Radek Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Hi, does someone know which Haynes manual is actually for my bike? The bike should be GS550E 1984 (the engine/frame is original. I believe the fuel tank/seat is from GS1000). It doesn't fit the picture of this year's Haynes make (frame, engine, etc). I'm new in building motorcycle so need a little help. Thanks Quote
Captain Chaos Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Welcome on OSS. Introduce yourself in General, and RTFR, it will help no end to get an answer. Quote
Swiss Toni Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Email them with your model and year of manf. And welcome. Quote
Radek Posted August 25, 2020 Author Posted August 25, 2020 Thanks for your reply. I'm just bit confused as the photos at the front of manual doesn't match the year 84'. I thought here is the place to ask someone experienced. I'll try to contact Haynes. Cheers Quote
mark35gun Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 there you go, not called haynes book of lies for nothing welcome Quote
Dezza Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Neither: look out for a 2nd hand Suzuki manual. One for your model may not be that expensive Quote
Radek Posted August 25, 2020 Author Posted August 25, 2020 Well, everyone has to start somewhere. The question is what model I've actually got? I mean the right manual or book for my exact bike Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Haynes don't advertise their own manual for this model at that year - they promote a Clymer Manual M373 for the GS550E - 1984 https://haynes.com/en-gb/suzuki/gs550e/1978-1986 Quote
Swiss Toni Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 And Clymer are way better than Haynes anyway! Quote
Poldark Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Looking at you photos makes me think early eighties gs550e. At least here in the US, the 8 valve engine and snow flake wheels were no longer available in 1984. Maybe it was still available in other markets, but I'm leaning toward 80-82. Quote
Radek Posted August 27, 2020 Author Posted August 27, 2020 Hi Swiss Toni, thanks. I had a look but no luck with gs550. Quote
Isleoman Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 http://gsarchive.bwringer.com/ Hope I don't step in Dog Doo but why not BassCliff site? It's been up for many years, so I suspect Suzuki is aware of it. Quote
