ElBlandito Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Pulled a B12 sump today and this dowell dropped out with it. Any idea where it lives? Couldn't find in on the oil pan microfiche. Thanks! Also found this bugger in the oil pickup screen. Pulled the valve cover and all adjusters are present. Who knows where it's from! Quote
Ben Slabby Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Looks like a rocker cover locating dowel. A ham fisted top end strip in the past and they've dropped down the camchain tunnel? Quote

Looks too big, (unless he's got a Jeremy Beadle hand) Hard to see in the pic, does it have flat edge as opposed to being a full cylinder shape? If it does, one of the locator dowels that fits between head and barrels(?) Quote
ElBlandito Posted November 26, 2019 Author Posted November 26, 2019 (edited) Pin is a cylinder all the way round with small chamfer at each end. Measures 8mm dia by 11.9mm long. Figured you guys who have had a few of these apart might be able to put a location to it. Edited November 26, 2019 by ElBlandito Quote
clivegto Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 Looks big in the pic but I would say it's a cam cap dowl by the measurement. Quote
MeanBean49 Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 Top pic looks like a valve adjuster out of a rocker arm, might also be its, nut somewhere, dowel could be rocker cover one or cylinder head one possibly 1 Quote
ElBlandito Posted November 26, 2019 Author Posted November 26, 2019 It was a cylinder head dowel. Cheers guys! 2 Quote
