dago Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 (edited) Hi I've treated myself to an Ignitech programmable ignition unit , I'm using the std pick ups and green Dyna coils can any one tell me what settings I need to start with as no luck with the gsx on the drop down list, also tried the classic 1 lobe 2 pick ups which sounds Iike it's trying to start but not catching cheers Edited April 11, 2019 by dago Quote
Markz9 Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 It might be worth contacting ignitech direct and ask if the have efe program or similar to get you starting and tune from there Quote
dago Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 Crisis over managed to find original email with the program attachment,{ put it in a safe place and couldn't remember where } All good now cheers 2 Quote
Ibbo Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Let us know if it runs any better. Are you on a modified motor? It would be useful to stop that annoying kick back too maybe. Mike Quote
dago Posted April 22, 2019 Author Posted April 22, 2019 Hi it's 1229 with mild cams, some headwork and rs38s. Feels better than the Dyna s it's replacing. You can set how many revaluations it turns till spark, currently set to 0, I got it to eliminate kick back to as just bought a whole brand new starter clutch as good used ones are hard to find will let you know if it solves it Quote
Askamaskinservice Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Can you post how the ignitionadvance looks on the ignitech. If you set spark after 2 rev, wouldn't it help reduce kickback, just thinking out loud.(Tell me if i'm wrong) Quote
Jelly Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 @Leblowskimight be able to help, he has some Ignitech stuff. Quote
Blower1 Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I have Ignitech TCIP4 in my EFE. Engine is 1300cc and 12 comp. Standard pick up, rotor and original coils and separate map-sensor. Engine is starting and running well. I can take pic of my setup if you are interested. 1 Quote
Leblowski Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I had some problems in the past with starting also, turned out i got the wrong wiring scheme from them. Might be worthied to compare and check Quote
dago Posted April 23, 2019 Author Posted April 23, 2019 This is the map it came with not started playing with it yet, been using it almost everyday for a week and not had a kickback yet so will keep it 0 revs till spark for now. If you're running Dyna s with the earlier atu unit the base advance is 12' the STD efe is 10 1 Quote
dago Posted April 23, 2019 Author Posted April 23, 2019 This is the Dyna 2000 maps I found on line, would be interested to see other what maps other people are running Quote

The extended curves possible with the Dyna 2000 never made any discernible difference on any engine i've seen. Quote
dago Posted April 24, 2019 Author Posted April 24, 2019 (edited) That's what I thought to, in the manual it says full advance of 32' at 2350 I think for the old stu unit. Will do a bit of fiddling at the weekend if I have time Edited April 24, 2019 by dago Quote
Gixer1460 Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Given your OSS board name , I assume this isn't a boosted application? Quote

No, this is my cafe fighter (yet another boring cafe fighter with touring screen). My boosted EFE have Megasquirt ignition and fuel injection. 1 Quote
dago Posted April 24, 2019 Author Posted April 24, 2019 Thanks for sharing going to try something close to the atu curve but 35' full advance at 3000 and work from there Quote
