  1. are there any options other than a pingel tap when running a tuned 1170 on the strip? need to save the budget a bit if possible! on a standard et tank. thanks.
  2. Sunday dawned and we were called down very early! First run I was a bit tentative on the launch but the bike ran well and did a 9.4 at 140mph. Next qualifier I was ready and dialled in 9.1 seconds. Upped the launch revs slightly and nailed it. It took me slightly by surprise as can be seen in the video. 1.34 60ft and stormed to my first 8 ever. 8.98 at 148mph. Still not far into 5th so adding a couple more teeth to the rear for easter. Roger certainly knows how to build a cylinder head! Thanks for all your help and support. Roll on 2021.
  3. Missed the 2nd round of etbike due to the breakage. Roger replaced 5 valves and a seat super fast for me. 8 hour drive to get it on the thursday though so I could rebuild it for racing that weekend. Got to the Pod and had Jake Mechaul sorting the cam timing for me til nearly midnight Friday. Up saturday morning to put the last few bits together ready for qualifying. Was called down 3 times only for the rain to come back. Saturday ended up being a total washout. But the bike did sound good and crisp so looked forward to a better day Sunday.......
  4. gonna be fitting an et1100 motor to a 750et frame some time soon .
  5. my pb run , 9.23 at 143mph. still sluggish off the line.
  6. Well! ran a 9.23 into a huge headwind to break out on my 9.25 dial in , big pb achieved. unfortunately the cam sprockets worked loose and a smallish lump of cam dissappeared into the depths somewhere. in the process of slowly stripping her down , would be nice to find the bit before getting too deep but not sure all the valves will have survived anyway! isnt going fast fun!
  7. Off to Santa Pod tomorrow for round 1 of the et bike covid cup! more interested in running pb`s that et`s with this beast of a motor so will report back soon.
  8. Had an amazing first outing of the new 1325 efe motor. Clutch was a mile out to start with but managed a 9.42 at 142 by the end of the weekend. Thats with a 1.6 60ft ! More clutch adjustment and a tail wind will see this old Kat close to 8 seconds , that,ll do me.
  9. Highly recommend Chris Tombleson at grumpy 1260 . Built my efe from a box of bits and it flies. Bit of a way from Scotland though!
  10. Very happy with the outrigger made for me by Claire Rule. Great piece of work and looks the bollox too.
  11. It was fucking tight, but 3 of us managed to squeeze it in.
  12. 5 weeks until the festival of power and it has crept up on me! Engine built and to be collected from grumpy on saturday. Sprocket outrigger to be made, offboard starter needed, entries in by 20th of march! Dyno booked for 25th and hope to test on 28th. We will see. Here she is as she sits today.
  13. Hi all , new engine going into the Kat for the new season. 1325 big valve head efe , keeping the same rs40 carbs . been using cheap chinese k and n copy filters up to now! any suggestions as to : better filters or velocity stacks ? only drag use.
  14. nice looking bike mate , I weighed my engine when it was out and think it was 180 lbs or so, same as me!
  15. Stage 1 of the winter upgrade complete! Big valve head ready to go with my 1325 efe motor . Should beef it up a bit!
  16. ken is too busy so will try elsewhere
  17. Well! the national finals was a nightmare! after 3 qualifiers I sat 11th of 12 with 10.73 on a 10.60 dial in. This put me down in 3rd in the points but I just needed to get further than Paul Adams on his gsxr1000 to take 2nd place back. unfortunately sunday was a wash out so I am left in 3rd. Thats racing I suppose. Now to build the new EFE motor and go a little faster next year.
  18. Bore the standard block for a 1170 cc kit, a bit more power and totally reliable.
  19. Delayed report from Green Light Nationals. Day 1 , qualified 3rd with 10.84 on a 10.80 dial in, everyone seems to be getting closer nowadays. round 1 win with 10.99 on 10.8 then lost out in round 2 in a very close race , ran 10.84 on a 10.80 with a 0.07 reaction but Jordan ran 10.22 on a 10.20 to squeak past me by a couple of feet! ended up with 4th place in the points for day 1 . Day 2 qualified 3rd again with 10.83 on a 10.80 , won round 1 with a 10.96 on 10.80 , 10.93 saw me into the semi final against points leader and champion of the last 2 years Phil pratt, ran a similar reaction time but found my quickest run of the weekend 10.76 which was too fast so I broke out and gave the win to Phil. 3rd place in the points on day 2. This puts me 2nd in the championship with 1 round left at the national finals in a couple of weeks , hope to hold on to 2nd or maybe put some pressure on Phil and take the championship if he has a very bad weekend . Etbike is a great class , plenty of suzuki`s old and new.
