  2. Recently I acquired a good set of UK clocks that I wanted to fit to my 1985 GSXR750F JPN import am and asked on this forum if anyone had done it and if so what dimensions did they use. Toni was also interested. As I didn't get a reply thought I would post the following. -in the first picture the JPN clocks mounted, they have 3 mounting points. 2 that bolt to clips mounted on the lower bar of the clock bracket and one upright bar that holds the upper section of the clock assembly near the left backside of the petrol gauge. -remove the lower bar clip on the left side of the clock bracket and save it, remove the upright bar and save it as they will be reused. Leave the lower clip on the right side of the clock bracket for now. -attach a scrap piece of flat bar to the clip on the right side of the clock bracket as this will be used to eye up the UK clock assembly angle prior to welding on the new brackets -mount the saved bar clip that was removed and attach it with a bolt to the UK clocks, lower middle area of clock assembly -hold the assembly onto the existing clock bracket with the clip straddling the central T section of the existing clock bracket. -angle the UK clock assembly so the right hand side mounting surface is flush with the temporary flat bar that was attached via the remaining right side clip, weld the clip in place at the central T section -file to fit the removed upright bar and bolt it to the top of the UK clocks on the left side, weld it to the existing clock bracket. -removed the right side clip that the flat bar was temporarily attached to and grind the area smooth. -make up a 2nd upright bar from steel tubing with a bend that replicates that of the one that was reused and bolt it to the upper right side of the UK clocks, weld it in place to the existing clock bracket -paint the modified assembly and your done I do apologize for the long winded explanation but I said I would do it and now I have.   3. Have since found some excellent photos on the WEB so have undertaken the bracket mod. Will post pictures on the modified fairing/clock bracket once I have it welded up . Hope this will help you out as well Toni. Should have it all done by Friday.
  4. I have a JPN 1985 GSXR750 and I'm about to mount a set of UK clocks to the front fairing support of the JPN fairing bracket. If anyone has their UK bracket removed I would much appreciate a picture of the fairing/clock bracket along with location notes of the 3 hold down points for the UK clock that would enable me to modify the JPN bracket accurately and mount the UK clocks to it. Thanks for your help with this gents.
  5. As the title requests, can I bolt a 1986 GSXR1100 speedo/tack instrument cluster into a Jap. import 1985 GSXR750 speedo/tack/fuel gauge mount or do I need to modify the 1985 mount to make it fit. Interested in any and all your comments..............thanks boys!

  8. I have a JDM and have just got it running after new rings and a top end O/H. Chassis number is as yours Tony, GR71F-102266. I've replaced the VM29'S with BST32's and it runs like a top. Had rebuilt the VM29's but didn't run smoothly. As my bike is in a standard configuration although not stock (as noted about carbs) and runs original airbox and filter. I bought an original exhaust header and can but not sure what it's off of so could be UK model or JDM. Can someone tell me more about the JDM exhaust restrictors, was it just a smaller outlet pipe from the cylinder head or an insert to restrict the exhaust header that could be removed?

  11. Your race bike looks great! The Avon AM22 and 23 tires are really a good choice, everyone here uses them for vintage racing including Steve Wheatman of Team Classic Suzuki's XR69 as ridden by Michael Dunlop at the IOM classic TT. I see your from Manitoba, before I ended up living in the UK I started out from Swan River many years ago, actually a small town next to it called Kenville…………………………………...it is a small world!! Keep the build pictures coming please

  13. I'm after a set of 34 carbs but have already made up the spacers as per drawing. If the 34's are different will make up a set for them once I get them!

  15. WSN03, thanks for this. Next questions does anyone have a set?? Will keep the VM29's but would like to try a set of CV's. What are the details of the best ones to get? What year and models of bikes were they fitted to? Thanks boys!!

  17. Posted in air cooled by mistake! So posting again here. Struggling with VM29's on a 1985 GSXR750F, may persevere but is there a better carb that offers smooth idle and good throttle response? Not interested in increased performance and want to run the original air box and filter. Your comments please
  18. Airbox looks right for an F. You have to remove the engine to fit it to the frame and then refit engine...……………..a real pain!!
  19. Welcome to the group. I'm rebuilding an F at the moment. Your front mud guard is not an F model fender. I've used an R1 rear shock to replace my original, many on here have documented that change. As mentioned the carbs are from a different model. As my bike is in bits happy to pass on any info and or pictures that you may want. Suspect PM maybe the best method. Good luck with your project.
  20. Just came across this, yes of course I'll post a few pictures and happy to answer any question with respect to the bike. Sorry pictures are in wrong order this was late in the build just starting to mate up the major components first time bare engine cases mated to chassis -just working out the concept, early days!
