  1. Fair point. I forget sometimes.
  2. The people of our wider communities, the good people of the oss, everyone really. British manufacturing should be supported as long as its good.
  3. racing is so full of highs, and lows. keep at it, and all of us are waitingbfor the next report. proper job. well done.
  4. british manufactured shocks. We should buy british if we can, and if theyre worth having. time will tell.
  5. im waiting for a new pair of maxton's. when they get here I will give you a review. I could only afford the std gas shocks, not the remote reservoir ones. They're about £600 delivered to my spec. Mike
  6. Curious this. I did a fair bit of work on my efe in the late 80s. 1260, flowed, megacycle cams, flatslides, v&h exhaust. When i decided to sell it I put the std carbs back on, and pulled the cams out, and it was way nicer to ride, so I kept it another year. loads more midrange. still had some top end, but not as much. Never needed to go there though. Dont think i would put cams in again. Certainly i cant put flatslides on. Too hard to keep open.
  7. Makes it feel fast though.
  8. Mine is 10mph out at 40, its doing 30. 1100k wheel, and speedo drive, and gs1000 clocks. its unusual not to be at least 10% out though.

    GSX1100 Clutch

Thanks, its a 1074, and has the chrome shiny end caps on the cams, so an early version i think. is it better to use long slots with this, or stay with original? They did say that i will need to drill out for the larger rivets as well.

    GSX1100 Clutch

So, I'm trying to sort out a new basket. Apparently theres a long and a short slot in the back plate for the springs. Which is better, and what model has it. Clutches. Didnt know they were so complicated. Cheers.

    GSX1100 Clutch

The inner hub was indeed, so that was replaced last year with the steel centred one, and nut replaced with a stronger one. Endless sometimes. But the low and midrange of the motors. Lush.

Maybe the GS Zone have the answer? Thanks for the nudge to AP. http://gszone.biz/clutches.html

    GSX1100 Clutch

only £448. If I bought that and a tank I'd double the value of the bike. I don't remember the clutch being so heavy when I had one originally.

And no, I wouldn't be interested in the downshifting slider bit. I'm not so hard on the down shifts as that.

The heavy duty baskets I've seen advertised come with the straight cut gears. Theres nothing I've seen to go with the std parts. I guess it would have to be a one off.
  16. My Clutch basket is getting worn, the plates have grooved it quite badly. I have filed it out to make it work, but it's not ideal. Plus there are the problems with the back plate and springs that need replacing. Not desperate, but they won't last forever. I don't want to strip, and go to straight cut gears. Hunting on the web I came across the Sigma slip clutch. It says it is set for higher power rating. Whilst this is interesting I would be more interested in lower spring rates for a standard motor to get the clutch lever easier to pull in. Has anyone tried one? Or alternatively is there any way to fit a Gsxr clutch. Mike uzuki TSCC 1000/1100/Katana All years. Five ramp, wet type. Designed for Hi Power applications incorporating additional plates and springs and a special heavy duty basket. Hard anodised in grey. Uses standard clutch plates and GSXR1000 K5 springs. Limited edition £795 plus VAT (Ref: 090)
  17. I've got some ovals on, along with a ledar kit, and it runs smooth all the way through. gsx1100e engine with std carbs. mike

    Jonnson forks

Bit of history, which is quite sweet. Unusual spelling of the name too.

    Jonnson forks

Hi all, I have a Gs1000 with 1100k front forks fitted. The left hand oil seal has been leaking for a while, so I decided it was time to get it swapped ready for mot. When I removed the bearing the fork leg underneath was engraved jonnson. I'm curious to hear if anyone knows who he, or she might be. I'm thinking they could be a suspension tuner, or previous owner maybe. They are both the same.
  22. Well I've not seen one. £1200 is possible.

    Electric fun

Bit of a faff, but swapped coils from one side to the other. ran fine for a while, but now dead on 1-4, so i guess I need a new coil. When I had an efe years back the coils failed on that. Are the modern coils more reliable?
  25. During the festive holidays I received some heated grips. Last week I fitted them without any tears, until I put the voltmeter on to make sure that the old girl could produce enough amps to power them. There was a brand new looking electrex regulator fitted when I bought the bike(Gsx engined 1000) 2 years ago, so I was quite disappointed to see the voltmeter rolling up to 18v. I dont know how long its been like this, not long I thought as the battery hasnt boiled dry. The first sign used to be bulbs blowing, but leds aren't as voltage sensitive. Yesterday I received a new to me sh650 regulator, off a zx6r I think. Fitting was straight forwards, even the holes line up. voltage 13.2 at tickover, and 14.5 steady from 1500 rpm. cool. Lets go for a spin. Wandered over to St Austell, 20 miles maybe, scudding the black clouds. heated grips were ok, but as I stopped at a roundabout I heard the dreaded, du, du, of an occasional misfire. Within 15mins I was down to 2 cylinders, and it was raining steadily. Still charging ok, and no difference when grips, and lights off. Ugh. Back home on 2 pots. No fun. Quick wash down and away. Maybe I disturbed a coil wire fitting the grips, but it felt like the voil for 2/3 has expired. Hopefully all will be revealed tomorrow.
