  1. That explains why the car drivers were getting so upset with me when i was filtering when i hired a bike over there. Wondered why they were so stressed about it.
  2. Yours is the first i've seen! How are they 'alleged' Mosfet? It's true the older Shunt type RR's are inefficient and tend to have limited lifespans but a Mosfet unit should provide far better regulation and reliability? Hi, its possibly not something youve been looking for, but heres a few i found with a quick search. Theres enough to make me think that the cheap new ones arent worth the risk when mosfets seem to last for ages. 3. Hi, Theres plenty of good second hand ones. The zzr600 ones work well, and are cheap. Any sh650 models. Theres plenty of warnings on the net about the alleged mosfet ones, enough to put me off any way. Either way let us know how you get on. Mikr
  4. Contact grumpy for an air corrector kit, and a set of mains. Mine was spot on first time.
  5. Well done for sticking with it. Though your bars look mighty high to me.
  6. Steve Johnson's page looks quite old? 1135 barrels for me definately after this conflab. No stroker cranks, though I've never seen any advertised. All good fun. Thanks for the info. Can't wait now. Even got permission to strip it in the living room. That will be interesting.
  7. I had rs36's on a 1260 efe, and wished i had bought 38's mainly because it was so good on the street, and i thought i needed more top end. It had a cracking torque curve, and 135hp on the dyno. In the end i took the cams out when i sold it, and thought about keeping it, there was so much torque. Now i would be happy with the 36's, but would struggle to keep them open for longer runs. If the alternator was better i would go efi, but it seems that its a struggle to keep the battery charged at low rpm.
  8. I usually go stupid big lol. Used to work at MRE and we used to do a lot of upgrades cc wise i like your way of thinking, and id love to. Really want to go round europe next year though, so after reliable slightly more than fast.
  9. Hi muddy, I was thinking the finning is probably bigger on the 1135 for more cooling?
  10. That sounds like a good option. Keeping some meat in the liners is something i'm very much in favour of. Have you used one of these?
  11. This winter the gsx engine is coming apart for a spruce up. It's well known that it is illegal to strip a gsx without putting bigger slugs in there, and of course everyone wants more torque. It is currently 1075cc, and as well as wanting more torque, i want to do miles. In the past i have bored bike engines out, only to have gasket hassle, so this time i have in mind to get 1135 barels, and give then a slight overbore. Increase compression, and use std gaskets to keep the reliability. I am planning some european touring on the old girl next year, so reliabilty is paramount. I cant use std 1135 pistons due to the pin size. What advice do you all have? It currently runs fine, and doesnt use any oil, however leave it alone isn't in my dictionary. Mike
  12. When you say what size carbs, are you refering to cv, or flat slides?
  13. Well it certainly won't pull 180! but it cruises happily between 70 and 90 without my feet going numb from the vibration. I rarely consider going over a ton, though it's pulling well at that in top. I need to drop to 4th in town in 30 / 40 limits. The red line on the old girl is 8500 too though it's still pulling hard at 9k, not in top though. Seems quite acceptable to me.
  14. 18 tooth bandit gearbox sprocket now fitted. Had a test run out 2 up, and its much nicer than with 17. 48 tooth rear, and 170/17 tyre. 5k rpm gives 90 on the clock. Pulls well in top. First is a touch high for heavy traffic, so im going straight down the middle in future.
  15. I could claim 1135cc of suzuki air cooled excess. But actually it's 1075cc.....
  16. Is this still on. But probably more important are non efe's welcome? Thinking of having a bimble up from Cornwall to join you.
  17. Excellent thanks. 530 because 520 looks so skinny. It's probably fine but I've used 530 for years without problems.
  18. Ive changed to 530 chain on my gsx engined Gs1000. I want to try an 18t sprocket at the front, and they are listed on Eblag for gsxr motors. Is the front sprocket the same spline as the oil boilers? And the watercooled suzukis? Thanks mike
  19. Stuck on the end of my arms luckily.
  20. I'm not sure where the rack came from as it came with the krausers. It was off a German reg bike, so who knows. Pics to follow.
  21. Hi all, bit keen but I'm just trying on the tent etc ready for next weekend's rock and bike fest at carnfield hall. Setting off from Cornwall on Thursday morning. Is anyone else going? Will be my longest run on the old gs so far, so fingers crossed nothing major falls off. I have a few spanners and a baby bottle of loctite in my bag just in case.
  22. I'm very keen to know how it works out too. Ive still got the worst shocks in the world on mine, and im unsure if paying the extra for maxton is worth it.
  23. It was jumping out. The sprocket was welded on.
  24. My efe started jumping out of second under load with std gears not long after it got to 200hp. The engine had been stripped, and 2nd gear checked, and welded prior to being tuned. I would suggest you should consider getting them undercut. I think i would if doing it again.
