  1. Front light, cowl and clocks are fork / yoke mounted so not relevant to what frame you have though ?
  2. Not a clue mate, but mines a 1980 AU registered 750ET for comparison... .. and No, I don't know by some numb nut moved my VIN plate !
  3. WOW!!! Not quite what I had in mind but WOW all the same!! I'm thinking cut the stock frame, press it out wide enough to take a GSX1400 swingarm, weld in dowl type spacers either side of the stock bottom rear mount. Re-bore swingarm pivot (add sleve if there's not enough material) to take a larger 1400 spindle. Im sure its not that simple but it would keep a factory look. 200 or 190 tyre , 6" rim, chunky chain, good clearance, stock looking frame is the goal.
  4. Not sure. Bandit motor nearly went into it. I've bid on a few donor bikes at the auctions and Egay. It'll be another project one day.

  6. For me, only in stock form if you up the performance. I've had less issues with the "normal" system before its needed upgrading. it can be swapped out for a traditional one, or you can mod it, anything from heavy duty springs to a lock-up system. Some folk prefer the traditional style. I think the diaphragm style has less surface area on the plates ?
  7. I picked up a 1999 Bandit 12 a while back. A cheap runabout from Eb#y, out in the sticks just before Xmas, a crap ad, no one else bid ! Not used it much recently, so its most likely going to be a donor for the ET.
  8. I think NiCom have shut up and gone. Been chatting with Lynton on ASF. He has 4 Zed frames to do on the new jig then mine might be next. No 750 slabbie frames, but I did get this roller as it is for $200 (£80) off Bob on ASF...
  9. Same here. I'm breaking 1999 B12 to build a 750ET. Id love a radial super trick front end but for the initial build it might be getting the 12's front end to get it up on its wheels. I'm expecting a stem change and possibly a change of "full lock" lugs / stops ? Anything I need to know ?
  10. Coil spring clutch v Diaphragm spring clutch ?
  11. Never seen a GSX1100 I wouldn't buy, its only a question of the price!
  12. Beers? I wish! Haven't had one in 8 years 3 months. Bikes and travel eat up every penny i have and I'm quite capable of making dumb decisions stone cold sober!
  13. Going to look into how much work is involved in cutting and widening the frame by approx 14mm across the swingarm area. To take a stock GSX1400 swingarm and have more chain clearance. Similar to what 370Steve has done on his but aim for an extra couple of mm. Im not sure if its been done before? There may be a good reason why not!
  14. Just dust sheets. Nothing stays clean here after 10 minutes if I don't.
  15. I bought a 750 frame last night and already have an 11. Not aware of anything other than the bottom engine mounts but if I spot anything (unlikely) I will post it up. I asked the same and all info was I could use either.
  16. I'd like to widen the frame enough to take a GSX14 arm and a 6" wheel so I can run any tyre / chain combo with plenty of clearance. I'd like stock ET bodywork. In reality, nothing is set in stone. I have a heap of ET parts with a half done 1370 kit, Busa wheels, a complete Bandit 12 and a GSXR1100G (minus engine) I'm happy to use. I'm going to do some measuring and have a chat to a few folk about cutting the frame.
  17. Thanks for the help and info on my recent questions. I picked up a 750ET frame tonight so the project is getting real. AU$100 / £47
  18. I've seen a couple of naked ones recently that didn't have the "big" headlight, and were wearing smaller Bandit / SV 7" ones. Personally I'd want the big light or use it as leverage in the deal if its missing.
  19. Not 100% sure which way to go yet but I already have a 6" B-King / Gen-2 Busa wheel, a heap of 200/50 and 190/55 part worn tyres and a 1999 1200 Bandit lump. I do have a Gen-1 Busa and Bandit 12 Swingarms but I might go with a GSX1400 one. Nothing is set in stone, I'm collecting parts and doing some research. Hopefully a 750 frame is arriving this week then I'm good to go.
  20. Thanks. I prefer the idea of modding the frame once, then having any choice of chains and tyres with no issues with clearance. I have other bikes running 6" rims and 190 or 200 tyres. I'd like to keep this one the same.
  21. Has anyone done a cut-n-stretch on an ET frame to take a 6" rim / 200 tyre ? Not real keen on running stuff too close or using skinny chains etc. Ive seen Busa frame ground out to do it (looked nasty) and I remember Dodges Slabsider being done too. Am I away with the fairys? Or is it feasible? To ether dish and plate the factory tube and add extra external side material? or to cut out the section and have a custom piece made and welded in? Or to cut and open up the whole frame? I may have a cheap frame coming and already have 6" wheels and tyres that I'd prefer to the 5.5" / 180 I have. Well, do-able or dumb ?
  22. I tried to crop the pic so you could see the engineering relevant to this thread but without the K*w*saki engine, but it didn't work !
  23. DOT head ? So you'll need GSXR cams not GSX-F teapot DOT head ones ?
  24. I think its quite interesting. I'm not clued up enough to work out if the bolting two fares together is going to have issues or effect the ride but it looks well done. At the end of the day its a lot more GSXR than Kat. not sure if the effort is worth the gains? but I do like it. The ZX10 / 900R version is very interesting too, but not sure I can post it on here.
