I have a RF900 rear wheel, it's straight.

My GS1000 suffered from a slipping starter clutch when I had a hih CR kit on it..

10 years ago when the new TurboGS was just finished, I nearly died 3 times in a row within the timespan of a week. I saw that as a sign... My little 550-based GS just doesn't handle good enough to stay ahead of the power. I most certainly cannot ride with modern 600's handling wise. But I kick ass on the straights
Mine has the same.
When I started to ride it again after the rebuild I had to get used to the acceleration again, it goes so easy..

Thanks for the reply. Yes, land speed racing in the stock class so can't go over 1000cc. I will do a search for Yoshimura.
Don
Are they going to take the head off and measure the bore and stroke?

I have a gsx750ef that needs some work. I am thinking gsxr 600/750 usd front end. Would it work or would I end up with the handling of a shopping trolley. My original 1985 bike handled sweetly and I don't want to make it worse. If any of you have done this stuff before I would love to hear your experiences.
Yeah, a more modern front end and rear vork does improve handling.
I've got the front end in my GS from a ZXR750, can give you measurements if you want.

There are people who did the scavenge via the oil pick up, I think with a one way valve in between, but I don't know the details..

I've got set brand new ones, 18mm

@clivegto Ah, now I see the difference, your cold side is much bigger then mine.

I would go for a 2nd hand proper brand turbo, I had a new Chinese one, wasn't that good..

???? What proportion of all bikes on OSS are 1100 shafties? My guess is very low as the machine doesn't even register as a donor bike, except, ironically, for the BST 36 mm carbs which may be useful on common OSS bikes
I do think a heavily modified 1100g shafty could be mega-cool though (didn't Havoc begin to build one on here a while back???), in a similar manner as Wraith's powerscreen.
I mean, I think a lot of people on this forum spend way more money on their old skool suzuki as what it's worth.

If you're serious with gainig power, the exhaust is pretty important.
Look around and gather information before you buy anything.
I made a bigger diameter muffler inside my Marving, that made a bit of difference, but still nothing to brag about

Thanks for the examples @Reinhoud
I have that Marving exhaust on my katana because with the Srad fork it lowered it alot. Works great for clearance
Bear in mind the quality of the chrome whether white or black is really shit. I had mine dechromed and ceramic coated after just one year
I'm reasonably impressed with the quality, the sound alright, I think the chrome and the whole of the exhaust is alright, just don't expect any power gains from it.
No clue what the performance is in regard with a stock exhaust.
I was told that the flat collector is the problem, may be someone here can tell me/us if that's indeed a/the problem with this sort of exhaust..

I haven't bought it yet. But my current Harris 4-1 is to low so I'm getting the flat type collector for ground clearance
That's the one I have laying arond, they sound alright, but they're NOT high performance..

Is this an 1100G shaft drive we are talking about here? If so, such a machine is probably going to be best suited to the original CV carbs. Maybe it will be better to spend cash and time finding out what is wrong with the BST 36s rather than changing to RSs, and it will probably be cheaper too.
My guess is there is a dearth of jetting information for RSs for your bike as to put it mildly, it's probably not that common that anyone would want to fit RSs to an 1100G shafty
.
If that was the case this forum didn't exist

I must say i have been experiencing with RS carbs for the first time on the bike i just finished, and i agree, they are great i' use.
Didn't know about the shorter exhaust line effect, thats interesting. Is it really noticeable ?
Yes! BUT!! it depends a little bit on the sort of engine how much you notice the difference.
You won't get more power, you just change the rev range.
When you have a 500cc 1 cylinder, 10/15cm difference is well noticable. When I took 60cm of the exhaust of my Range rover I moved the start of the powerband from 3500rpm to 2500rpm.
I'm pretty sure when you take 20cm of a 4 cyl bike engine you lower the rev range with about 1000rpm.
Experiment with it. Also, with stuff like this, give the engine time to break in with this, don't take it up and down the street once, take it for a longer ride.
Exhausts are weird things. I had a Merc 5 liter V8 with a DIY exhaust, not very loud, but if you stood next to it or 50 meters away, it sounded the same.
For my DR500 I made trumpet exhaust, gained quite a bit of power, pretty loud when you were standing next to it, when the bike was at the end of the block you would hardly hear it..

Regarding valves/seats.
In the past I had the bores of the seats increased, this made a bit of difference, not a lot, but the bike didn't had to work as hard to get it going.
I was told that bigger valves increase the flow around the valves when they're open. I'm not sure if this is true, hopefully somone else can give a proper answer to this.

Ca you post a photo of your Marving? I'm getting curious..
