Vacuum hose, put a bolt in one end, put the other end in your ear, and hold the bolt to the crankcase, you'll hear from which area the rattle comes from.

Unless everything is really worn, the rollers can't get out other then the side of the cage.

Gents,
I've got something in my head, and I'd like to know what the possibilities are..
I ruined my TD04 turbo already (not enough oil), I've got a VF20 lying around, it's pretty easy to make the core fit in the TD04 housing, the compressor wouldn't be to hard to make fit either.
The VF20 is just a bit smaller than the TD04, I've read somewhere that all the cores from the ball bearing VF turbo's are the same.
Does anyone knows if the shaft of a VF23 fits into a VF20?
I can't find any dimensions
Thanks

Right size hoses?

I've been fidling around with the air screws, adjusted them till the AFR read 12, seems to run best on that.
I did the tuning this time after a 50km ride, I think that made a difference too
I also raised the idle rpm a little bit, just a little bit, and now it runs fine. have to get used to the higher idling, almost 1500rpm, pretty sensitive in that rev range

Check for excessive play on the connecting rods in your carbs ?
This causes air leakage on the butterfly feedthrough's playing havoc with idle.
Aha, will do. That's something I wouldn't have thought of myself..
Can I test that by spraying brake clear or something else flammable on the carbs while the engine is running?

Gents, I just can't get my idling right.
After a ride the revs on idle go up and down, now it looks like it's sort of running on 3 cylinders, runs a bit "heavy". When the engine isn't real hot it seems to be alright, as soon as I open the throttle it runs fine
Been turning the idle srews in and out, can't find the sweet spot.
Valve clearence, sync, ignition is all ok. AFR seems to be fine too.
Anyone who might have an idea what might be wrong?
Thanks

It's not leaking anymore.
I was in doubt about the way it should go in, with the metal side out there's also a bigger chamfer, and indeed, the spring is usually on the oil side..

Can't remember exactly, it was few years back...
Btw, are you sure you have it there right way around? That was the reason why I had to take mine out.
I did wonder if this is the right way.. It always has been in like this..

Not sure about the GS1000 but I have done this with a GSX1100 successfully. I think I drilled a small hole on the old seal to pry it out. Then just carefully tapped in the new one.
Looked up the partnumbers, GS1000 and GSX1100 have the same oil seal.
How did you tap it in?

Getting it out is not too hard, but when tapping the new seal in the coating of the seal comes of real easy... Like these seals are more tight then other seals..

Is there a trick / way to replace the crankshaft seal without unbolting the crankcases? And without damaging the seal?
Thanks

It looks nice, but I don't think it's going to work.
Rear wheel seems to be too wide, sprocket has to go that far out that the chain wil run against the frame.
Rear end is raised to much, so the chain will run over the swingarm.

Hi, does anyone know if there is a hydraulic clutch conversion for gsx1100e (1981) thanks
I made the clutch of my GS1000 hydraulic.
Got myself a clutch slave from a Bandit for the measurements, you need at least a lathe, and a preferably a mill, and some imagination.
But it's not too hard to do.
See if I can find some photo's

I finally found an affordable TD04 turbo, good condition for $150, 25km from where I live.
I started the modifications already.
The TD04 is quite a bit bigger then the VF20

I'm no specialist on exhaust smoke but if it was burning oil on the over run it should / usually is blue. A grey smoke I think is a lean condition but don't quote me - ideally you want no smoke whatsoever LOL!
Lean? I thought too rich...
But I need to ride behind it to have a proper look. I have to ask my mate to go for a ride..
I don't like smoke either, no matter what color

Couple of months later...
Bike is going again, had to get the pistons machines so it would take the piston rings (I'm so not impressed with JE), had to wait for parts (gaskets)
Can't get some gaskets anymore through Suzuki...
Installed the gas flowed head, I must say, it does make a difference!! It's more aggressive, better throttle response.
It did lift it frontwheel in 3rd gear on occaision, but now it does it a lot easier, it even lifts it in 4th.
The balancing did made a difference!! But not as much as I hoped for, but maybe it's something else what's causing vibrations, my mate says that 4 il engines always have some vibrations. It's at an acceptable level.
The less vibrations and the head gives it a bit different characteristics, revving it up goes easier, but now I start to notice that the turbo is too small.
But it has an incredible strong mid range.
Haven't taken it for a longer trip yet.
Smokes a bit when decellerating, grey-ish smoke, have to fix that.
Put new valve seals (OEM) and new piston rings on it.. Not happy with this
First ride on it, it didn't feel right, like it was lazy, bad response on the throttle... Turned out the grips were loose

I think it might be something in the alternator cover
