mx13 Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Hello I've started a slabby 1100 track bike project , and i found 2000 r1 swing arm in my garage. First i thought i will cut the bracket and weld it on stock swing, and this morning i start wondering os it possible to use the hole unit ? Does anyone do this swap ? Major issues ...? Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 @Mole28 is using an R1 swing arm or parts of one. Quote
dupersunc Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 The bracing fits quite nicely on the gsxr arm. The pivot section of the r1 arm is much wider than the gsxr frame, you need to cut of the ends and 're machine the bearing housings. a fiddly job. Then you need to sort the linkage and mounts out. Mole28 Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Mine uses the standard arm with the ends cut off, R1 adjusters and narrowed brace welded on. Quote

E T Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 I think he means warping when you weld the brace on. Quote
clivegto Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 R1 arm can be fitted to a slabside frame but it is a lot of work. Much easier to cut the brace of the r1 arm & welding onto the gsxr arm. 1 Quote

No not really the r1 arm in my pic has a 6 inch wheel but will only work with a 190 tyre & the one with the standard arm with the brace welded on has a 5.5 with a 180 tyre. Quote

That is what i expected , and sorry for it, because i have plenty of 200 tyres which are not so ggod for racing but good enough for slabby track days Quote
