CockneyRick Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Well Ole Fatty didn't let me down, needed a jump but started virtually 1st time after nearly 2 yrs in storage! Yoshi was not so forgiving, not budging from hibernation Serious dust & corrosion has set in, even the grips have gone mouldy! 6 Quote
Cobby Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 2 years growing mould tut tut. Send it my way I could make good use of it while I sort my bike out Quote
NorthernBloke Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 It's a shame to have them laid up for so long, how come? Quote
Dixie Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Time to crack open a bevy and some cleaning fluid and enjoy bringing it back to life, any excuse to spend time the shed I reckon. Quote
CockneyRick Posted May 21, 2018 Author Posted May 21, 2018 Time is spent on the "drag bike" but seriously limited on hip movement! I even tried to sit on it & had one hell of a job getting my leg over So reason is simply that, just not fit enough to ride em, but as they're my retirement fund, they're going nowhere 3 Quote
Andrew Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 (edited) Hi Rick I see you're using stacks on the CV carbs on the Yoshi bike. I have a stock 1150EF 1986 which I want to build into a home-built frame. I would like to lose the airbox and fit K&N or similar filters but I've heard that it is difficult to get the engine to run smoothly from the bottom with this mod. Do you have any information on how to do this. Thanks Edited November 2, 2018 by Andrew Quote
CockneyRick Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 @Andrew Everybody & his dog will say don't use stacks on CV carbs & they're right. I just put em on to see how it went with mesh filters over the ends. TBH it's not as bad as i was expecting, but when i eventually get round to working on it again, the stacks will prob get dumped. Andrew Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Thanks for the helpful info. I certainly don't want to end up with a home-build that's a step backwards. 1 Quote

You have got some seriously nice bikes there, hope you can get your hip fixed so you can ride them soon. 1 Quote
Rsvfletch Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 Fire them up regularly and they’ll be better. Quote

I have not started the new frame build yet. I have 'chopped' the standard frame behind the tank to lower the rider's seat 'cos I'm a shorty. However, that is too ugly to show on this high-class forum. The only pretty pics I have are of my SB4 - currently under a sheet in the back of the garage. 3 Quote
