Spadge Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 The frame number is no longer present on the side of the frame (can I get it from anywhere else). The v5 states 750. I suppose it may be possible the previous owner may gave it to me unwittingly or he in turn may have been given it unwittingly when he bought it. Quote
Madb Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 If frame no is not there I would be asking for my money back. I would be asking why it's not! Should be on the head stock, right hand side. Quote
Dezza Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Even if the riveted-on VIN plate is missing, the frame number should also be stamped onto the side of the headstock. Quote
Spadge Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 OK so I've found this on the headstock and referred to Madb's post with the link to ID the model. How do you guys interpret the findings? Quote
Simbec1863 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 From memory I’m pretty sure GU75 prefix is a water cooled 1100 frame 750’s were GR 75,77,7A,7B depending on the year etc slabby slingshot water buffalo I have the codes somewhere if I can find them I’ll post here Quote

That was the conclusion I came to. Just wanted to check I hadn't misinterpreted the code Quote
Madb Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Definitely 1100. Not 750. Don't explain why shock don't fit. Same lengh as 750. Them BMW shocks fit the 750 OK. Quote
Madb Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Oh and tenth digit should tell you the year. Quote
Dezza Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Yep, U = 1000-1100; R = 700-750 or something like that. Whatever the range for each number, 750 = R; 1100 = U. Motors bigger than 1100 like 1100 slingshots, Blandit 1200s and EFEs and the letter is V. Quote

Could it be down to the swing arm being a 750 swing arm and associated hardware on an 1100 frame? Quote
Madb Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Maybe bell crank different? I'll check fishe. Back in mo. Quote
Madb Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Nope. Same for 750 as 1100. So not bell crank unless you mounted it upside down? Quote
dupersunc Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 The bell crank or dog bones won't make any difference to the issue you have. Quote

Spadge Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 Has anyone on here actually got one of these bolted up. Some pictures might help me. Also does anyone know ow if this has been done with a braced arm or only with a banana? Quote
markfoggy Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Sorry, but that top shock mount looks all sorts of wrong. Quote

markfoggy Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I'm just not expecting a casting, at least with the bolt on top mount you have some options. I can see how that shock should work with a WP banana Arm, with the overbracing I can't see it. I have a K5 shock here, doing nothing, that I can send over, but I can't see that it's going to help. Length is 325, but the bottle sits much higher. If you want it, drop me a line. Quote

I'm thinking whoever posted previously saying that the s1000 shock is a bolt on has either just measured the hole centres and never actually tried it, or they have only tried it with a bananarama Quote
markfoggy Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Ok, well that shock looks more 315 than 310 so lets see if we can fix it. I'm trying to do this. Similar sort of packaging. Ohlins has a lower bottle, K5 sits higher. They come out at 325 so possible to run longer bones on the WR/S arm or maybe run a 750 WP linkage with the over braced arm, I think there may be an advantage there. I have no doubt that a grown up will be along in a minute with the asnswer. Quote
