RojoMojo Posted July 21, 2015 Share Posted July 21, 2015 Hi, my 1100M is running k+N's, dyno jet kit and micron race down pipes mated to lightly baffled end cans (4-2). Would there be much to gain by fitting a 4 degree ignition advancer? I realise there isn't going to be a huge horse power increase, but wondering about pick up / response / smoother delivery etc? Just wondering what people experience is with lightly modded motors like mine? At £50ish it seems a fairly cheep mod, but is it worth doing? Quote Link to comment
Captain Chaos Posted July 22, 2015 Share Posted July 22, 2015 at 50 pounds it's a f*cking expensive mod.Remove the ignition pick-up ground plate, slot the mounting holes, done. One mm on the edge of the plate corresponds roughly with one degree retard/advance. 1 Quote Link to comment

Can anyone tell if you are able to slot the top left screw hole? Having just seen a piccy of an 1100M back plate on Fleabay it looks like there's bugger all to slot in that corner as the screw hole is right near the edge anyway...The Parts PDF i have shows a similar picture, so do you just rely on the other 2 screws to hold it all in place? canamant Posted July 29, 2015 Share Posted July 29, 2015 I sltted the back plate on both of the Scabby Racers to give about 4 degrees. Can't say it helped the top end but it certainly crisped up the bottom end and midrange. Quote Link to comment

With back to back runs on dyno I found 1 degree was optimum.Could it be your actually removing variability and just setting it to where it actually should be.Don't slot it in wrong direction Quote Link to comment

jonny1bump Posted August 2, 2015 Share Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) It probably moved the power to help you get off line quicker many factors alter quarter mile, depends on your set up and state of tune what I have seen on dyno 1 degree gave slight increase anymore simply tilted the curve.
