Kid Kearsley
Racing is Kool but sometimes something happens and reminds you that you're not in control of everything. So it went bang in spectacular fashion at Elvington in October trying for 200mph, First run managed 203mph and on the second run the bike went through the finish line at 197mph with a piston trying to make a bid for freedom. photo credit: Steve McDonald The stripdown revealed the wicked new shed shelf trophy for the price of speed. Stop crying over spilt milk. So with the engine out, cleaned and stripped the hunt for replacement parts began, big thanks to Dave Dunlop of FBM fame for gathering of parts and helping to rebuild the motor. Engine assembled and back home. Phil Wood, drag racer of many OSS based bikes most famously the Spondon Kat overseen the fine tuning of dialling the cams back in. Now that all that was left to do was fit the motor and check/clean/replace parts as I went along. Bird give me hand on date night lifting the motor back in and starting to fit the hardware. A new wastegate was required due to originally buying a cheap copy wastegate that rusted up, £259 later we are back in business. New service items fitted plugs/oil/filter/fuel filter etc and the bike fired back up this evening and sounds as evil as it once was. Be back at a racetrack before we know it! Can we go Racing now?
