Guest YoshiJohnny Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 digging through some boxes today I found an intact slingshot 750 six speed gearbox with all associated shifters and drum etc etc Now to make it work on my 1127 it would need the countershaft drilling for the push rod Does anyone have a contact for drilling it (it's hard as fook) or spark eroding cheap?? cheers YJ Quote
no class Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Tungsten carbide drill should be up for the job......I don't think the countershaft is harder than 65 rockwell Quote
Gammaboy Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Suspect it'll only be case hardened - once you're through the case, you should be right. Quote
dupersunc Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I'm doing a six speed 1127 swap at the moment, my next job is getting the countershaft done, I'll let you know what I come up with. Quote
cregnybaa Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Just use a quality drill , all of my 1100s are 6 speed I just use some old imperial drills that were made in England. Quote
Rene EFE Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Aren't teapot-boxes the same, but drilled? Quote
markfoggy Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Really, did you find a long reach bit or did it need spit roasting? This is something that has been churning in my mind for a while and have been wondering how reliable the shaft would be. :chin scratch: Not that I'm thinking of Endurance engines, Oh No. Quote
