Captain Chaos Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Hi,the 1992 GSX-R750 WN (first watercooled one) was available in blue/white, black/purple and black/grey. See pic.But there was also another blue/white version. Why two different blue/white paintjobs in the same model year? Confused.gif Quote
Captain Chaos Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 I have an issue of Performance Bikes from 1992 with that second version of the 750 (the one with the white wheels) in a test. They got the bike from the official UK importer. And in all the factory brochures I have, only the other version is pictured. Quote
34Black Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Perhaps they came up with a second blue and white option because the first one looked like a shellsuit ! 1 Quote
badgerkdd Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Perhaps they came up with a second blue and white option because the first one looked like a shellsuit !Why do you think I re-sprayed mine Black Quote
Kristjan Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Well, mine is.But the blue/white in second picture is probably one of the very best they came up with on Watermelons. 1 Quote
34Black Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Nice. I have an 1100WP in the same imaginative colour ! Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 I love the early 90's "shell suit" paint schemes, so much so I spent ages hunting one down in 92, I couldn't afford a new one but got a year old one.. Best paint job ever, I nearly did the Harris this colours but not enough bodywork Shame it didn't last Quote
badgerkdd Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 OUCH !! Unfortunately, mine was the silver one with a Red ( actually more like pink ) splash up the side! Hence its now black, nice shiny black mind ... Quote
snoorder Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 My white/blue WN had a differtent scheme then both in the first post (sorry crappy old pictures)I had a black/purple one for a while as well. But I actually like the white/blue one on the second picture most! Quote
Captain Chaos Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Snoorder that looks like a '93 WP model. Quote
snoorder Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) Check, check, doublecheck, you're right. My bad, I had too many of this model Edited July 23, 2015 by snoorder Quote
Beevis Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Did they get the entire design team drunk then got them to design the paint jobs???? Quote
Kristjan Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) It's not the worst case imo, some colours are acceptable (by me) and the shape of the bike is fine. Better think of why did someone design Fiat Multipla like this? They must have been on heavy drugs! Have to admit that many questionable or strange designs (by today's standards) were probably cool back in the day. Some remained, some did not. Edited July 27, 2015 by Kristjan Quote
34Black Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Talking of strange designs, anyone remember that hideous bike designed by Phillipe Stark (?). I think previously he had designed kettles (and I don't mean the 750 sort). Quote
snoorder Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Haha the Aprillia moto 6.5! Think that belongs in the same corner as the Multipla Quote
Captain Chaos Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Google "Morbidelli V8" and you wish you hadn't. Edited July 28, 2015 by captain chaos 1 Quote

34Black Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Anyway enough of this, let's talk shitty Suzuki paintjob desings againI think that out of all of the Suzukis, the Teapot must have had the worst colour schemes. Quote
jamie k Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Looking at those Color schemes and general design of a lot of bikes of the late 80/early90s you would never have guessed there was an epidemic in drugs and the rave scene lol 1 Quote
mightlife Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 This was mine the day I bought it.Didn't last long like that though due to my stupidity It was imported to Spain and was re-painted here I believe. Quote
