Screwriverracing Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Hi All, has anyone got any video of strobing a 1100 Efe , just need to see where the 'T' mark lines up. Cheers SRR Quote
slingy1157 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 What does the manual say for where the T aligns for tdc. Would probably be the same point used to set the cam timingtiming as well. T pointing to centre of left pick up coil maybe? Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I find it easier and more certain to use a positive stop tool and a degree wheel to find top dead centre. The tolerances stack up on these old girls and the T mark is is a little bit vague for cam timing. Never strobed one to check the ignition timing though so I can't help there. Quote
coombehouse Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I have checked a couple of motors with a posi stop & found the 'T' mark to be pretty accurate. Having said that I still use a stop when timing cams. As for strobing, the 'F' mark will line up at tick over if I remember right which equals 10 degrees BTDC. When you rev it to approx 3.5k it should advance to the the next mark which signifies its at 34 degree BTDC. You only use the 'T' mark when fitting cams on the marks or doing valve clearances. Hope thats of some help. Quote
Gpz1100_Convert Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I thought on an efe the markings were on a backplate. Mine is missing typically so positive stop tool it is. What should static timing be advance btw? If no answer then manual it is to search Mark Quote
Screwriverracing Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 I don't think there is a marked back plate on the Efe, they were on the earlier GSX. Cheers SRR Quote
Duckndive Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 if you have a strobe that you can dial in advance then the T mark should line up with centre of L/Hand pick up...... Quote
Screwriverracing Posted April 24, 2016 Author Posted April 24, 2016 So I've managed to do it, if you pause the video you can see that the T is just below the pickup. Cheers SRR Quote
