ziggy Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Can somebody shed some light on the below - at first I thought somebody bodged air tube (as its not connected to anything) but checked alphasports and looks like it should be. Then theres the fuel tap - cant turn it as it fouls the frame - does this look like correct tap? Tank looks like 11 as it has fuel gauge so just wondering if the tap is 750 or off something else Quote
Rene EFE Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Looks like the handle is aftermarket or later model. Tap itself looks as it should. Quote
Oilyspanner Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Looks like the vent hose from the top of the cam cover, mine goes between carbs 2 and 3 and then connects to a male plastic connector at the bottom of the air box - to recycle vented gases from the vent tower. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 when I installed an 1100 engine in my Slingy 750, I slightly lifted the rear of the tank because otherwise the fuel tap would hit the cil. head oil pipes. Result was that the tap could not be turned, same as in your case. I cut off the bit of handle that touched the frame. Make sure your tank sits straight and flat, no large space between frame and tank. Quote
ziggy Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Checked vent hose from the top of cam cover and all good. It's just that (ram?) air tube not attached to anything so thought someone at some point bodged it and left it as it. Tank is bolted ok so must be the handle then. Cheers Quote
Oilyspanner Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 That big air pipe just feeds cool air over the head and carbs - the other one feeds cool air to the air box area, via the frame cross member. 1 Quote
Captain Chaos Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 might help if you put the clutch line above the fuel tap and not trapped between tap and carb tops. Quote
