Cam cover info lol

Ok, after needing the gsxr750 slim breather cover and being reminded ( cheers @clivegto(y))  the slabside one is lower and lighter, I decided to get both xD

This is what I've found which might be helpful.

Gsxr1100 (1127 cc) cam cover is 62mm high and 77mm with the slim breather cover. Also weights 1790g and 1977g with the standard breather and 1933g with the slim breather

The slabside 1100 (1052cc ;)) is 59mm in height and weights 1346g

This might help if you're trying to get a old cooled engine into a air cooled frame with not much room :tu

No clearance issues with the 1052 cover on an 1127 head? I like the idea of that much extra room for an 1127 in a 750K frame.

No, all seems good. Test fitted it tonight but with better fitting it probably tomorrow, as it needed a re paint.

So I will confirm for you tomorrow (y)

1052 cover with integral breather is magnesium, which also goes some way in explaining its lower weight. Where are the pics of the different covers? We like pics :)

I've now fitted and bolted the cam cover (1052) down to the 1127 head/engine turned the engine over and no nasty noises.

So I'd say yes, a straight swap :tu

Great, time to start looking for a 1052 cover now.

They’re about $100 here in the states, but I’ll still order one up and test fit it on a few heads. See what it does and doesn’t fit.

I think with the 1100/1200 heads it's the cam chain run. As the 1127 has the cam wheel in-between the cams but the b12 doesn't and some of the 750 don't?

It would be good to have a what they do and don't fit ;)

@clivegtopointed me in this direction and was saying about the b12 head :tu
