GSX 14 Exhaust on an oil cooled

Recommended Posts

Hi, as per title really, I couldn’t see anything on a search - has anyone fitted a GSX14 system to an 1100/1200 oil cooled engined bike? Clearly there are a number of sump options but just wondering if anyone has already trodden the path (I’m sure it’s been done - everything has!).

Thanks Stew.

Think this was asked some years back, might even be on one of the old sites.

And if I remember the answer was not easy to fit. Can't remember why sorry no more help from me.

Early K GSXR 1000 exhausts are probably easier to find and it's already known that they fit with a little persuasion. Can't really think of any advantage to running a stock 1400 exhaust on a GSXR or Bandit engine unless it's just what you happen to have sitting around. Bandit or any of the other sumps that came on bikes with single sided exhausts should work, but I'd think the 1400 exhaust would hang a bit low if it'll even line up.

What engine/bike are you trying to put it on?

It was more of a generic question in support of understanding if aftermarket exhausts would fit as the 14 was fairly well catered for (Akra, Yoshi etc). I wouldn’t look to use a standard 14 system! I’ve seen the K exhausts used too - quite effective.

Measures just taken off engines i have in stock

GSX 1400 exhaust port spacing :

95-115-95

Exhaust port center to sump mating line :

Approx 335

Bandit 1200 exhaust port spacing :

98-120-98

Exhaust port center to sump mating line :

Approx 305

That could mean that it's a tall header on the 1400 that would sit low under the 1127/1157 engine ?

Generally speaking, if you're looking into parts compatibility, in order to buy aftermarket parts to adapt, just look for the proper aftermarket parts for the engine you want to use, surely you'll find more exhaust kits for the bandit/GSXR anyway

That’s good info - thanks for sharing.

When it comes to decent titanium headers then every additional option is worth exploring & on the basis that the power of a community is that you ask to see if anyone has done something similar as I don’t particularly want to go down a dead end which somebody has already been down. Equally if nobody has actually done it then that’s the answer.

For what reason would you want to?

In my case I have a good condition Yoshimura Cyclone full system available and Slabside and Bandit projects. Had it been an easy fit it’d be useful info for me.
