  1. It’s been a while so I’d forgotten some of the details, I rebuilt the clutch basket whilst it was out with some stiffer springs. Martin @Mar71nalso did a stunning bit of machining on the supercharger mounting plate & outrigger to turn it from a piece of flat 6061 that I’d punched some holes through into something which looks engineered!
  2. Have been slowly working through since the initial dyno / setup work last year. First round on the dyno yielded low boost (around 5psi peak boost) so I swapped to a smaller supercharger pulley which necessitated a shorter drive belt too. With the revised gearing the boost was up to around 12psi at 5k which is where the clutch let go. No real surprise. Pulling the clutch apart showed no excessive wear on the plates but a goosed hub required replacement. Clive came to the rescue with a lockup kit which I had to get creative to fit owing to the RHS of the motor having the supercharger drive in the way. Long story short I’ve managed to shoe horn it in by going to a “push through” clutch actuation setup, machining the spacer plate down & hogging the clutch cover out. The bike had been basically dry built so needed to come back apart for final welding on the frame tweaks & reinforcing (courtesy of Craig at Dynotorque) followed by cosmetics throughout. I wanted to do valve stem seals as I had a bit of smoke on the overrun & the valve springs were clearly struggling at higher rpm. That somehow morphed into a Roger Uperton valve seat job, port tidy up & general check over plus a set of Kibblewhite valve springs. Once the head was off it would be silly not to pull the barrel off & just by chance Roger happened to have a lightly used 1230 setup available so that’s gone on too. Oh and a set of high flow oil pump drive gears & Cometic head gasket. A few other incidental things needed sorting as I went through too, the clutch actuation swap meant that the supercharger oil tank needed to be rethought which is now ahead of the engine tucked in the gap. New sprocket cover / clutch slave bracket + outrigger, rear hugger adaptions. Bits of shuffling to get everything sat happily in the frame etc. Frame has been refinished in 2K, engine tidied up, lots of anodising, powdercoating etc. Back I one piece & running now. Awaiting stickers for the RHS side panel so I can lacquer it along with the front mudguard. Seats need recovering & a few other nips & tucks to get everything fully sorted & of course mapping. Quite pleased with how it’s shaped up.
  3. So are you going EFI Clive? Looks to be very little space to get any injectors into the ports where it really needs them?
  4. Yep is mine. Lots of custom stuff but trying to keep the character of an EF rather than losing the quirky bits that make them so unique. Top notch running gear, well upper end of the ‘normal’ range anyway. K4 rear arm, Galespeed wheels, Ohlins FG434 forks, Fazer 1k yokes, LSL Fatbars and risers, Ohlins rear shock with bespoke rear linkage, Gillies rearsets, Galespeed masters, Brembo calipers, billet caliper brackets, fabricated front mudguard brackets, Ohlins steering damper, fabricated inlet manifold, fabricated bespoke Intercooler, gen 1 busa fuel pump, lithium battery, underseat oil coolers for engine & supercharger. Aim MXS TFT dash in original housing, Axel Joost PDM, loads of custom bits to fit everything together! Motor will be staying standard capacity most likely with a bit more ring gap & a good clean up inside & out. Mods to suit supercharger drive & crank pickup for ECU. Rotrex C30 supercharger, Turbosmart BOV, Akra GSXR1100 exhaust with modded link pipe & carbon hex can. Frame will be de lugged & braced plus generally tidied up as some of the original welding & fab is quite rough! Should be a cool thing. Thanks to Clive for sorting me out a headlight…. Audi project is in collection phase until this one is done! Stew.
