Tank breather removal

I’ve needed to replace this breather since I got this bike, but keep putting it off because I’ve never had any luck getting them off without damaging something. Any trick to removing them?

I usually wrap them in tape or 1mm aluminium sheet and use a multi grip to undo them

I care more about the tank than the breather. Half the hose barb on the top of this one is broken off.

penetrating oil for a day or two,

then rag with mole grips does the job.

I've got a small adjustable C spanner. not been defeated by one yet.

Ditto - c spanner is usually the way to go.
