Bought a good tank of him for 50 quid that's mint inside and is matching color to my'n with bosses welded on for turbo use  he has had a load of clutch judder spacers made up so he chucked one of those in as well  and a set of old busa turbo headers  was well pleased to say the least so gave him 60 quids. Well I have the turbo headers now and a couple of turbochargers that could fit and some other turbo bits n pieces. I also have some forks and wheels that I'm going to use. Also done a deal for a rather nice titanium exhaust which I'm picking up next week. My plan is to get it a MOT ride it round a bit to see what it's like then start to make it a little lighter then turbo time . Handling is important to me so I'm on the lookout for a shock upgrade for it

You need the heavier clutch springs with the locking ring Clive, or your clutch will slip.

If it's anything like your other rides it'll turn out great - don't take my leg pulling too seriously though

Try and get hold of the gen 2 lower yoke, its far thicker than the gen 1 yoke. The gen 2 forks are 6mm shorter, i run them in mine, helps it turn in quicker.

Coz I is tallish though I would lift the risers to lift the bar setup a bit fit the 1000k5 forks in the picture with a shim spacer for the bottom yoke as it'll be going 55mm to 54mm drop the the forks through the yokes say 5mm. Find a good adjustable shock fit that then play with the settings. That's the plan in my head at the moment.

Yeah, the Brocks BTL I posted earlier comes with washers to use as spacers. Depending on the model and mods, keep an eye on the clutch slave master on the other side. Heavier load on it from uprated clutches means that cracks in the cases from flexing isn’t unheard of.  I’ve never had a drama but I know others have and there are brace kits available.

Bit disappointed with the fresh tank as it leaks around the welds for a the an fittings . Checked the original tank and after a week the molasses mix looks to be doing it's thing . Not going to use the origanl fuel tap so made an an6 adaptor plate to fit the bottom of the tank. Think I'll empty the tank and flush it over the weekend.

Wish you were closer. I have a very clean Gen-2 tank (it’ll fit), a store near me helps me out with stuff that comes off insurance claims, some of it is very minor cosmetics, hard to even spot.  I have almost full sets of Gen-1 and Gen-2 plastics, wheels, lights etc etc.

Yeah, not a perfect fit, I think you need to juggle the mounts and the fairing trim. We had two Gen-1’s at a meet and couldn’t work out why there were minor visual differences, one had a Gen-2 tank.  I’ll try mine next time I’m in the shed.

What size tyre using the rear tyre in this picture?

The reason I ask a silly question, is because you see some rear wheels and the rims look really wide and others (same wheel) don't? 

I'm thinking it's because some have a 50 profile and some have a 55 or 60?

It's a 190/50x17 which I belive is standard on these. I've read that fitting a 190/55x17 on these inproves the handling by helping it tip into corners better as the forks are a bit short for dropping through the yokes.

Yes I've heard the same thing that the 55 profile helps the handling.

All Busa’s came with an OEM 190/50 on a 6” rear. 

The B-King uses an exact Gen-2 wheel but came with a 200/50 from the factory.

Its pretty common for both Busa and B-King owners to change to taller 190/55’s.  I run 190/55 S22’s on a couple of mine.

 

Some folk go for bigger / taller 200/55’s or 60’s. I’ve tried a couple of different 200 profiles but always gone back to 190/55’s. It’s not just the height and weight etc, I find the whole shape and profile of the 190/55 works well if you like corners. 

Theres a bit of difference in the shape and profile between s22 / 23’s, Rosso’s, M9RR’s etc but any of the better sports tyres work well even if do get eaten up quicker. I’d rather pay for tyres than punch holes in the scenery.

You’ll find that most Busa owners who don’t fit hard touring tyres, either get very good at removing rear wheels or they are on first name terms with their local tyre fitter…. LOL.

Im not a wealthy man, and I’m not some Rossi wanna-be track day hero, but I had to remove a pair of quite new Angel-GT2’s from one of my Busa’s, I fully understand touring tyres aren’t going to be super sticky but the GT2’s were truly awful. It’s a rare day I remove tyres with plenty of tread. I wouldn’t fit the bloody things if they were £1 a pair. 

250kg / 160hp bikes can light up or chew up soft tyres pretty regularly if you like having a bit of fun.

 Been running sport touring tyres on my 2 road going Turbo bikes both of which are around the 250hp mark and I like corners. We get wet roads as well as dry hear in North Yorkshire, can't fault them really.

In other news I picked this Onishi heat magic full titanium hand bent in Japan exhaust system today after a 4 1/2 hour round drive. It looks ace and weighs less than a packet of smokes   .
