Experimenting with some candy apple blue, to get the right effect I’m looking for. Gas tank needs some work but the inside is rust free luckily. Have not found the exact combo I’m going to use yet, but have a better idea which direction to go now. I want it to look basically original, but stand out in the sun like my CBX I did some years back.

One panel has some pearl over the basecoat but under the candy to see what difference it makes overall.

I think I’m going with this look….with the covers polished like the hubs.

Next step is to totally disassemble the bike, and begin the rebuild now that I know where I’m going with it, and have enough parts for the rebuild to start.

Finally got my crank and cylinder sent out.

Not much else done except added a Ducati 999 steering damper, since I’m pretty sure the front end is going to be feeling light.

Got crank back last month, along with ported cylinder, bored out for the new Wiseco piston. Time to start adding new bearings, seals, the TM400 close ratio trans, and other bits together now.

Chain on…doesn’t sound like much, but this was a critical part of making this whole project in the first place. Making sure I have tire clearance on both sides, while wheel is aligned straight. Had to space out sprockets ever so slightly, and heat and bend brake torque arm just a bit. Obviously this bike was never intended on having such a wide tire, and if I couldn’t get a 150 to fit, I wasn’t going to build the bike….

…I guess I could have saved a shit load of money if it wouldn’t have initially looked possible…

Been working on the wiring, finding bits that are missing, and adapting the Vape ignition

I now have a verified spark, just need to get flywheel timed right now (no key way as original flywheel). And finishing mounting the rear of my exhaust properly.

Then start kicking it…

Almost ready to fire up.

Need trans oil, a 2.0 cut out slide for the 34 Mikuni, and a degree wheel so I can time my ignition flywheel as the Vape does not use the key way.

Got my timing set after finding TDC with my piston stop and degree wheel… put flywheel on at the 19.5-20 degree mark I made on the plate. So that when the line on the flywheel passes the etched line on the plate, it fires at 19.5-20 degrees.
