gsxwill Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Recently brought Gs 1000g motor to strip out for the top end as have my old bottom end (chain ) waiting for the barrels What parts of the topend are not compatible Quote
gs7_11 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 The head has larger inlet ports for CV carbs, as did the last chain drive model, the 1980 ET. That might be different, depending on which GS1000 you have. Other than that, nothing. I've built quite a few GS1000 motors using 1000G top ends. My current bike has a chain drive bottom end, with shafty top end, including CV carbs and airbox. 1 Quote

Really clean and nicely set up Quote

'taint nothing wrong with an NTV rear end - wheel out and back in less than a minute and change brake pads in a similar time! They f**ked up big time with the NT's and a double sided arm and ridiculous brake set up . . . . . . . . yes i'll admit NTV's and a NT were my daily for 11 - 12 years, all year round till I retired! 1 Quote
wraith Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 It's also wider than a standard gs1000g rear 1 Quote
wraith Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 (edited) The only other wheel I know will fit in a gs850/1000g swingarm and hub, is a XV800. You do need to remove the hub each time you want to remove the wheel, as the wheel rim is wider than the space between the hub and Rh side swingarm.
