inazumarob Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Hi Guys and Gals, I decided to give the brake calipers a strip down and clean due to bike not being used for a while. I dropped the caliper halves in to a mix of 10% Harpic Plus 10 and hot water. This is a picture of them half done. 3 Quote
PanzerWomble Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) With those calipers and that method you should be able to go clean round the bend ..... Never tried using bleach , my go to is Jif / ANother white cleaner for first level gunge removal . I might have to give this a go next time . Edited June 21, 2021 by PanzerWomble Quote

PanzerWomble Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 I knew someone do a similar trick with some sillydream carbs back in the early 90's . Had to hold back on the giggling when hew came to ask if I could sell him a spare set . Quote

Dezza Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 That's a great result on those calipers. Harpic Plus is a weak hydrochloric acid solution so it's use here is the same as using alloy wheel cleaner to remove brake dust and other crap from calipers. Harpic is clearly a whole lot cheaper than wheel cleaner so it's a no-brainer to use this method in the future. Quote
