Hi, Im looking for tips and advise is always welcome. I want to fit a gsf1200 oil cooled engine in a gsx750e frame. Is there a specific clearance between engine and frame or is it rule of thumb? Ive read a few articles on here about guys attempting (succeeding) in similar build. My second question ; the chain allignment...is ther things i should look out for and is it better to space the rear sprocket to the engine or other way around? My third question ; if i want to change to bandit swing arm, is it better to put bushes in swing arm with thinner bolt or try and drill bigger holes in frame? (to be honest, i want to keep the 750 swingarm because it shortens the wheel space.

Hi bud welcome to OSS.

Nice project.

There are some kits about that put it into 1100 frame.

750 has different bottom mount so is possible to do.

Choice is usually sit forward in the frame to get exhaust on or sit back for better chain run.

Somewhere in the middle compramises both lol.

Bush is easier bore out more difficult but more strength.

Hi guys, thanx for all the advise. It's an 81 gsx750e. I missed the clearance of the sump, thanx for that tip as well. I was thinking about putting engine all the way in front, and install a chain tensioner. I need to make new and 2mm thicker engine mountings for front, rear is almost the same story, but my headache is going to be the top rear mounting. I can either weld in the mounts or weld the complete cross bar from the bandit frame in. I really appreciate the help.

Hi wraith. Yes that's it. The bandits engine, forks and rims and the rest 750. Thanx dude! Got the engine in the sweet spot, just need to lift it about an inch, and fabricate the new mounting brackets

i put a B12 swinger in my 750ET, i just used an ally tube that slid right through. 20mm O.D 14mm I.D. it fitted perfect (maybe a bit on the snug side) but thats not a bad thing.

worth trying your exhaust headers on now just to make sure theirs no contact with the frame tubes. or have you already done that :tu

First thing I did after checking clearances. Lol. And then the balance and chain clearance

Have you checked the carbs?

I'm running a b12 motor with DOT and 38mm carbs, I had to raise the rear of the tank to stop the carbs tops hitting the tank, but you should be ok with a standard motor.

Not yet, but the space I have left, it should be okay. But will check thanx, Im going to swop out old air filter for 4 x small cone filters. Don't know if the short or longer ones will fit
