removing GS1000G fuel tank

Recommended Posts

Hi - I just got a GS1000 (1980) - went to start it up - and the choke cable turns but won't pull up.

I'm worried maybe i over twisted it but now it won't pull up at all - it's. mounted in the fork/steering column.

Thanks,
Simon

Welcome to OSS

If it's a old cable, as above remove clean, if you have fitted a new one you can over twist on them and they lock, just un-twist and start again.

Unlatch seat, remove bolt at back of tank, disconnect the 2 wires (one block) for fuel gauge, discounect one fuel line and one vacuum pipe from tap, lift back of tank up and put towards back of bike.

Tank off, hardiest part will be discouneting the fuel line and vacuum pipe.

I'd look at getting a manual (y)
