baldrick
a lot of people have said a lot of stuff would never work, only to be proved wrong, and wheres the challenge in that? 2 Quote Link to comment
137401
In Germany we say: „Leck mich fett...“ Amazing job done here, very well documented Thanks for sharing 1 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
too many people who actually know a thing or two advising against my headlight idea, figured I should at least entertain the idea, popped the light off my GSX-R for a mock up , those who's opinion I value enough to ask for it say it looks much better , it doesn't match my original plan, but it is £300 cheaper . I'll fab up some "temporary " mounts and try for a ten foot look 3 Quote Link to comment

Captain Chaos
ah yes MT03 and not 02. You're right, good headlight for not much money. But this build is something special and it deserves a special headlight. How about some Dominator twin spots? Edited December 29, 2020 by Captain Chaos 2 Quote Link to comment
Askamaskinservice
What about dual gsxr headlights. (Nevermind me i had neighbours over for whisky tasting) Quote Link to comment
yantosh
an inspired choice Captain, but too good for the likes of me, nothing special here, just a cheap budget bike built from freebies, second hand parts and what ever I could cobble up myself always open to the advice of our more senior members tho Quote Link to comment
yantosh
hoping my perseverance has paid off, constant internet searching found this for not much more than an MT03, hopefully its a standard electrical plug , now we wait . I'll go put the blue light back on my GSX-R 6 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
light arrived, looks cool as fuck , going to take a bit of modification, but it'll work I think it won't be orange, might wrap it 10 Quote Link to comment
Captain Chaos
Much better than a bland MT03 headlight. 1 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
had to swap to one of the non led speedo pods, they'll be relocated got the headlight mounted, single bolt in top yoke and a pair of pegs into bottom one, it won't work with the high muddie anymore, not to worry 5 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
so if anyone is looking to fit a motogadget mini this be much cheaper than one from Germany 1 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
time to get my arse in gear and finish this off need a low muddie to go with the new light, I gathered up a few bits n bobs from the shed and introduced them to mr angle grinder , then offered them to the bike lets see if I can turn it into something worth keeping 2 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
muddie is starting to look like I want , thinking I'll give it a coat of resin and use it as a plug for a mould , it'll be stronger, lighter and a lot less of a bodge 2 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
remade the speedo pod too, moved the led's to in front , stop the wires interfering with the headlight 6 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
headlight wrapped to match the tank panels, reg/rec and tail light mounts painted and fitted, and the front muddie mould (hopefully) ready ... and horn bracket 6 Quote Link to comment

yantosh
got the mould made for the muddie, one off kevlar be the next task 3 Quote Link to comment
yantosh
got the kevlar, peel ply and breather layer all cut out on Saturday ready for today. Up Sunday and off to the shed, mix up the resin and get it all loaded into a vacuum bag, never tried this before ... turned out ok, the mock up I cobbled together was the better part of 600g , vacuum moulded part about 150g. It did need a final cosmetic layer of resin brushed on, that'll need to wait until tomorrow to be rubbed down 4 Quote Link to comment
