akronos Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 I'm about to reassemble the cylinders and the headboard, removing the old original Suzuki seals I noticed that they left like a paint (I think it's a sealant primer) on the surface between the planes(pictured you see silver). Should it all be removed completely? How can I do that? Quote
Gixer1460 Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 It's not critical - rocks, debris, bits of old gasket - remove. If you are OCD about stuff then some thinners or acetone should get it off but it won't hurt to leave it! Quote
Dezza Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 If you want it gone a good way to target the thinners or acetone is to use a cotton-wool bud so you can get the sealant off without damaging the case paint. This also works for removing overspray after painting engine cases. Quote
akronos Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 I tried with acetone and also with a specific product to remove paint, but it doesn't come off ...if I leave everything as it is, then I risk losing oil? Quote
Swiss Toni Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 No you won't!!! It's just a mark! You can't feel it with your fingernail, can you? Just button it up, and worrying! It won't leak! Quote
akronos Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 I noticed while I'm reassembling all an abnormal coloring inside the exhaust collectors , here's the photo. The valves and the game valves in the cylinder 4 were perfect , the carbation equal and adjusted for all four cylinders... The exhaust valve in 4# cylinder are whiter than other, spark plug too. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 1 hour ago, akronos said: the game valves i suppose you mean "valve clearances"? Quote
akronos Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 Yyes sorry, Valve Clearance. i Set between 0.08-0.13 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Lighter colour means hotter burn. That isn't that bad - i'd say almost ideal. The other cylinder though ! ! ! either too rich or not burning efficiently! I've had heads with exhaust valves that come out white and whilst fairly extreme it's just a lean burning tune for max. fuel economy, not lean enough to burn / melt valves or seats. I'd be looking at #3 cos looking at the plug it's almost at the point of misfiring! Quote
