Spirit Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 A lot of talk herein about plumbing in a cooler to the head, but as yet I have NEVER seen one nor a picture of one. Could someone oblige? 1 Quote

Spirit Posted January 16, 2019 Author Posted January 16, 2019 What's the feed line from a GSXR slabby head? Quote
Oilyspanner Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 The feed comes from the oil line on the upper case, behind the cylinder block/ barrel assembly - this single line branches into a dual line to the back of the cam cover. A head cooler takes the oil from the upper case feed to an additional cooler and then a line with a dual branch returns the oil to the rear of the cam cover - the oil will be lower in temperature when it circulates around the top of the head, so will keep the head temperature down. This diagram shows it really well - it's the one fitted to the GSXR750RK https://images.cmsnl.com/img/partslists/suzuki-gsxr750r-1989-k-e01-e02-e04-e22-sub-oil-cooler_bigsue0067fig-17_fbc2.gif 4 Quote
R1guy Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Could the head cooler be mounted directly infront of the main oil cooler? Or would this be considered to restrict flow to main cooler too much?! Quote

Or would this be considered to restrict flow to main cooler too much?! Yes. Yoshimura thought so. Note the head cooler is the larger forward mounted cooler. But on your Katana, if you don't mount the second cooler where the headlight used to be, you are a gayer. 1 Quote

CockneyRick Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 TBH it could go pretty much anywhere where there's airflow I'd like to see it done like the Sp1 &2s Quote
