Hi all, I'm after some more help & advice if anyone can help?? (and sorry for the long post but wanted to get as much info in as I could). I've got a standard MK1 97 1200 bandit, that I've done the 'Krazy Ed carb mod' on, 127.5 mains, 35 pilots, shimmed needles, pilots 3 turns out, float heights 14.5 & a 2" hole in the airbox. (It had a free flowing race can & K&N panel filter already on it). I've done a few of these in the past with good results, till now :-( On the first test ride it was running good everywhere with improved performance over stock, apart from a bad stuttering between 2k to 3k revs and you couldn't ride at 30mph without it stuttering (chugging along), but it was fine when you opened the throttle and gave it some, lifting the front wheel in first and second off the power no problem and reving/pulling all the way upto the red line. I tried everything, different settings on the carbs but couldn't get rid of the low down stutter (I changed float levels, pilot screw turns & even taped the 2" hole back up). I noticed a couple of the emulsion tubes looked slightly egg shaped (but only slightly) so I changed them anyway for new genuine Suzuki ones and it was a totally different ride. The stutter was more or less gone & you could actually now ride at 30mph when needed without the dreaded stutter, but now I have a new problem that I'm wondering if anyone can help with?? At standstill, in neutral if you rev the bike it now wont rev cleanly past 3k revs without coughing & spluttering upto about 5k revs and then its ok upto the red line, so 3k to 5k it coughs & splutters but everywhere else its fine inc on tick over. Also when riding it @ full throttle it seems a bit flat/hesitant between 2k to 3k but then takes off and is ok everywhere else. I've tried going less than 3 turns on the pilot screws to 2 1/2 turns but it then wont tick over properly, with the revs hunting up and down, from 500rpm to 1.5k rpm. (@ 3 turns the revs are steady @ 1k rpm). When you blip the throttle, the revs don't hang and they don't drop below the tick over either and it doesn't seem to get better or worse as it warms up, the carbs are also spotless inside. I've checked the plugs and they look OK (a bit rich if anything) and the outlet on the end can is slightly sooty but not really bad. So I'm thinking its running a bit rich if anything but it doesn't like me leaning the mixture and turning the pilot screw in, so that's threw me abit and now I'm lost :-( . Could it be float heights are wrong or would the needle heights affect this part of the running (thinking needles are more mid range)? Before I start stripping the carbs and changing things I'm after some of your knowledge and input to maybe point me in the right direction again .......... Thanks in advance :-)

Hi Just finishing odd jobs on my bandit 1200 special. Its a mk 2 with standard carbs. It has K&N dual pods and a straight through black widow exhaust, a few inches shorter than standard. I've gone slightly richer on the pilot jets and lifted the needles as high as they will go to richen the midrange. I did this all in the hope I could avoid the cost/hassle of taking it on a dyno. Truth be told its not running well and I am contemplating spending £130 on a stage 3 dynojet kit but would like to know if people have had good results out of the box with this kit? If the consensus is no then does anyone know a good dyno/tuner in the Weston Supermare area of the UK and what should I expect to pay to get it set up? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is the 10 millionth time this question has been asked...

Hi guys i have bought a bandit 1200 MK1 that has gsxr 750 carbs (look like 1989 model ones with choke on side). The bike is running very rich black plugs running on tick over, bike will throttle up but cuts out after a while. Looking for advice on jet sizes it has 37.5 pilot and 102 main running on pods. Changed pilot to 35 and bike has correct mix at tick over but back fires and won’t rev just cuts out. All help accepted don’t have money to get it to a dyno at the moment. The 35 pilot jet I bought has no side holes the 37.5 has 8 would this make a difference

Anybody know where I can find split header flanges to suit Bandit exhaust? I had to chop mine off, so bad was the steel-ally interaction Don’t want to mess about chopping the pipes about, but don’t want to waste an otherwise fine set of headers either... Have looked on the webz, but can only find stuff for German luxo-barges. Oops, posted this twice cos on first attempt it refused to upload. Sorry, pls delete one of them!

Heya! Lonely Bandit 1200 rider from Montenegro here (I kid you not, there are only two mk1 1200 Bandits in the whole country). I have had the bike for a bit over a year, and have put 12000km on the clock since I bought it. Today, I decided it was about time to check the valve clearances, and what was supposed to be a routine procedure turned out to be a nightmare when I saw the cylinder 1 exhaust cam lobe (shown below). It has developed a sort of a lip towards the right part of it where it isnt touching the lifter. All other lobes look ok. The bike has 60000km on the clock and it runs very well - I never would have guessed it had a problem until I saw the cam. I'd love to hear your ideas on what could have caused it and what you think the best plan of action would be (continue to ride it or do something right away)! I happen to have a spare top end, but it would be a no-no just slapping it on without finding out what the root cause is. Thanks in advance! Stefan

Few years ago we bought a little bandit for my wife. It was quite badly keeped so it was a cheap buy. Cheap indeed, airbox cover was missing, every bearing was fucked and there was very badly made "modifications" here and there. Started to overhaul it last year and did the worst faults first. One very odd and annoying is still there. It is very hard to start when the engine is cold. Done so far: New plugs New coils Ultrasonic clean for the carbs New seals and misc parts for the carbs Relay mod for the coils Stock setup for the carbs Fuel tap checked Compression tested the cylinders Valve clearances Spark is very strong and plugs are wet after cranking. It starts if I jump start it and after it is warm it starts right away. Any ideas what to check next?

Got a spare 98' Bandit 600 that I'm bored of and want to make into a little fun project. Would love to turbo charge it. A few things to consider: Blow through or draw through? I'd like to go draw through as there are less things to tinker with/modify and just looks a whole lot easier and possibly cheaper. Oil feed for the turbo. Best way to go about this? What turbo to use? Something easy to spool, something that won't create too much power. Cooling? Obviously the bike is oil cooled. You don't need an intercooler to run with a draw through turbo setup. Would a bigger oil cooler rad be a good option? Just asking for anyones know-how on this situation. Any tips, tricks and wisdom will be greatly appreciated.

Hello all. New member here. I am building a Slabside 7/12 and have used a bandit donor including its loom. My problem is what to do about the speedo and rev counter as the bandit ones don’t suit the slabby race replica style that I am going for. Ideally, I don’t want to do too much electrickery so a plug and play solution would be best if possible. Surprisingly, given that the bandit is such a magnet for modifiers, I can’t find much out there as a direct replacement. I am not against a digital dash but I would want a decent size screen. Not one of the little ones that you see on MX bikes (Vapor etc.) I have considered, as a last resort, butchering the bandit clocks and mounting them on a plate with a foam surround to try and get something close to the look I want but I think this would be a bit half-arsed. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Just after a few ideas..... I'm fitting a head cooler on my Bandit but can't think of anywhere to mount the cooler that will look OK and not cause any clearance issues... I've searched the net for pics for ideas but can't seem to find anything, have you guys got any ideas??? I've attached a pic of my bike so you can have a look for ideas of where to put it, it's nowhere near finished so please don't judge it :-) Thanks for advice/ideas in advance.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any idea if a bandit exhaust will fit on a 1995 gsx600f? It currently has a Motad Nexxus 4-1 with a completely shot collector box. Will a bandit collector box fit? Or any other system? Seems daft to pay over £300 for a new system on an old nail...

Hey guys I'm back after a very long absence of owning a new vehicle in the shape of a k3 gsxr 1000, the was knicked, insurance underpaid so I now have a bandit 600 until premiums go down so far I have fitted dynacoils, iggy advancer, stage 1 kit and a temporary hiflo filter while I source a K&N one. I have a full system to go on, them exhaust bolts though.... I've also replaced the caliper seals and head bearings it feels like a new bike from that work!

Hello everyone! My first post here, thank you for having me. I'm riding a '97 B6 with a few upgrades (.85kg racetech springs, holeshot stage 1, '94 gsxr750 shock, vance&hines can) and looking to add some nicer forks and brakes before my first track season next year. I feel like I've looked pretty hard for the information to do this but it eludes me. I'm trying to figure out what is involved in this process. From what I gather, if I want newer forks and brakes the entire front end needs to be replaced (triples, axle, wheels) and I'm having difficulty finding which forks make sense geometry-wise and the nitty-gritty details like pressing bearings and required fab work. Can anyone point me to a project where someone walks through the process or sites with compatibility information? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi All, I am currently working on my Bandit 600 which is lets say my first proper sports bike, anyhow to cut a long story short, bandit engine has high mileage, damaged rings, and damaged headers ie, all bolts well and truly seized and manifold rusted through. This is where I decide to go buy a GSXR 750 engine. Now me being a noob I dont look too much into it and just buy the first engine I see which is a R705 86 GSXR 750 Slabside engine. It came with a set of bandit carbs in miserable enough condition. I bought a small ultrasonic cleaner off Donedeal (craiglist in Ireland basically) and set about cleaning up the carbs. Stripped them all down cleaned them out and rebuilt them with a sigma 6 jet kit, I gave them the specs off the bike. So on Christmas Eve myself and the younger brother got the engine in the bike, over the next few weeks continued bit by bit. I have the bandit sump and oil pickup on there now. I have the bandit carbs on there, installed 4 new spark plugs, foam air filter socks onto the original boots. Bandit 600 oil cooler connected and the bike somewhat back together. Also fitted a new set of stainless steel headers from Black Widow Exhausts in the UK and a Danmoto GP Extreme exhaust. Now what brings me to being on here is the fact that I have a few questions to ask, this is the moment where everyone face palms and says use the god damn search box, well I have done quite a bit of research and I just can't find and definitive answers so any help would be much obliged. 1. Are the carbs big enough, the slabside originally came with 28mm so I presume 32mm is loads? 2. Will the Bandit 6 Oil cooler be sufficient or do I need to upgrade? 3. Will the exhaust flow enough air or is the bandit headers knows to cause problems? 4. When I got the engine it was just the engine, I got no sprocket cover so I tried the bandit one and discovered (well I presume) the actuator pin is too short, anyone know what size I should cut a new length of 6mm steel rod to? 5. All the connectors between the 86 GSXR Engine and the 99 Bandit 600 loom match up. i believe the GSXR has twin ignition pickups but the bandit has single, do I need to change the ignition pickups or can I simply connect the one with the matching connector and color cables and leave the other idle? If I do need to swap the pickups, is it easy to do? I am just waiting on an oil filter now and I will fill it with oil and try start her up. I still have no idea if the engine is good as I bought it off Donedeal hoping it will be fine. If everything works as I am hoping should have it running tomorrow night. Anyway as I said any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ciath O'Riain
