  1. help me out guys im in flippin guinea west africa living in a tent where is the starter clutch? my shoddy manual is not at all clear. what am i looking for in the starter clutch? can someone describe it ? i dont wanna take off the side covers more than i have to: to save the gaskets many thanks
  2. What can I do about it? I've never looked at one. with side cover off, it's just gear wheels onto a shift. Can I get at the starter clutch easily?
  3. It's been doing it a while, makes me nervous. Anyone have any good ideas?
  4. I'm having a similar issue with hard starting. I think my float valve isn't sealing, cos gas drips from overflow, that is flooding it at startup. That's my theory. Good info to check jets and o rings on float plastic cage thingy. Is your overflow pipe visible or pointing at the rear tyre like mine was...
  5. I think it goes either way cos the pin swivels in its wire link. Predictably it's made it worse. Ive bent the tang up a touch so valve closes earlier. Can anyone confirm that's the right way, I get confused with float levels
  6. I'll try it the other way, I think it got turned around last time it was out. I do turn the fuel off if I remember, I'm waiting for a fag smoker to get a surprise lolz. Probably be me
  7. Does the float needle only go on the float cradle one way?
  8. Why does the float valve stop sealing properly and flood the thing every morning. last month it's great, then this weak problems. Before last month it unsealed for a weak. I can't have this every morning. It's got a fuel filter. The intake, carb and filter I cleaned out a thousand miles Is that right. If I blow through the fuel hose after draining it I can checuuk the float valve
  9. Check out my ride, with new rear rack tyre rack modification.
  10. Hi guys, bit of an odd oss air cooled, the mighty dr350! So My Lithium.Iron Phosphate battery wasn't charging, oh feck I thought. But then next day after a jump start, it did. I dug around and replaced a ropy power source coil wire bullet connector from the magneto. The resistance of the magneto thingies seems in speck. But what if it's the reggy recti, how to test it? It's 13v on standby and 13.6 running. Cheers from sunny Portugal heheh
  11. Ive got a Quill four into two that came on a 750L. But when I put it on that motor in the gs550, it sits really low.
  12. When it turns over on the starter, if everything is connected proper there Should be a spark while its turning. So the ignition switch wont affect whether the spark sparks, if it turns over.... What does the spark look like when it works? From what you said, the battery charge mightve made the difference. Like suzook12 said if the battery doesnt have enough juice at startup, the spark would be too weak. Different when running cos the juice comes from the alternator.
  13. Or put a resistor in the sub loom somewhere maybe to use what youve got, dont ask me what one
  14. It was the bad headlight earth, the join had complete come apart, probly with my checking in the dark.. Its been running fine in the rain, headlight or not, ever since. I wanted to share the pain with you all. I appreciate the practical responses. But it cant be just me that has these crazy episodes. U know where a tiny problem Gets well out of hand and you end up having to push or walk. Probly in the rain or dark or both. no-one appreciates the grief and the stress. Then the problem dissapears and you wonder did i dream walking five miles for fuel or whatever. What was interesting here was that even after remaking the bad earth. The light switch still cut all power until i tried to demonstrate this to my colleague. Then it was fine. I suppose this means theres still a short if it Gets a soaking. fuckit tho for now. I really dont think theres a relay either
  15. Id say 45mm, blackstone carbide the spark eroder guy told me...
  16. I know what u mean, but Cos its a Vacuum operated tap, the original is 'off ' when the engine isnt running. Just dont leave it in prime, cos then its gravity fed and always 'on'
  17. Fun little problem thats fried my brain. Go to work, saddle up in the dark. Starts ok, sidelights on ok, main beam or pass switch....everything stops. I can keep doing this over and over. Checked all the connections then went to Get petrol on sidelights. Thinking thered be lots of light to check it better, but no its closed. Ride back up hill, didnt realise Vacuum pipe fell off, pushed it back up grrr So cab to work. Then today remade headlight earth connectors. But still fucked aaarrgh. Left the headlight off while pondering the circuit.... Et voila, as i write this, bastad works again Fucking damp in headlight bowl is all i can think off.
  18. Ive got a couple of silly questions, Does the thing have to be in bits to Get dipped, stripped, acid wash primered and two packed? If they do it whole does the blanking off have to be way more pro than tapeing rags in the holes? Is it many hundreds of beer tokens? Thankyou
  19. Loses oil to a point. But not all the oil, cos the sprocket and gear shaft is higher than sump i suppose. It smells hot and im not comfortable with it. Can i ignore this or will it Get worse. Really dont wanna take the motor out again. Can i change a seal with it where it is?
  20. The original problem was a knackered tyre, so i put an unknown wheel with a good tyre in. Turned out to Be shot. So i did what i Should ve first done and payed a shop to swap the frickin tyre. The bearings are correct, they are now spare Carry on
  21. Even freezing bearings overnight they are a tight fit in a warm wheel. I guess that bust one used to belong to bluedog Old wheel back in, with tyre swapped over, spare new bearings in shed.
  22. Is it fecked? When rear 750L wheels axles done up tight, theres play in it. Both new wheel bearings seem to go in much too easily. The old ones fell out Must be the internal face of the wheel is worn and external diameter of the bearing is too small to Get the tight fit. They are 6204rs. Anybody had a bad wheel?
