750 will drop straight in, 1100/1200 engines are a bit taller though.

Hey.
I'm finding it pretty hard to find any good Bandit 600 plastics. Does anyone know if the 1200 bandit's plastics will fit mine? My bike is a 1996 600 bandit.
they will, also the tanks but not the front mudguards

I get my seat covers off begay, theirs a seller on their that sells good quality covers but not cheap, ive had a few off them but at £45 a time. just as good as OEM i think.

If you've removed the plastic lug (why do people do this ?) As above ever rap with tape or drill both switch gear and bars, I've used a chopped off part of a rivet before works a treat.
the best part is trying to drill the hole in the right place

they won't stay tight on the bars, you need to drill for the peg. or wrap tape round the bars. ive used some shim steel in the past, you can get it in sheets.

I think widening the original wheels is a good idea (if its possible) as it makes the bike more OEM but with the benefit of better tyres. but far easier to fit modern wheels.

ive got a US spec gsx tank but not that keen on it. bought a gs1000g tank a while back so will go with that although it needs a massage underneath to clear the frame, also thinking of a aircraft style filler cap for it
yeah i know what you mean about the US spec smaller GSX tank, the larger GSX UK tank works with a GS 1000 tail unit like on my bike.
but the GS1000G tank will look ok.

It would make tyre fitting a lot easier.
it would, and you can do a burn out without trashing the tyre

not something that give much trouble but could it be the pulse coils ? or maybe its a wiring fault ?

UPDATE:
I think I’m starting to narrow down the problem.
when the bike was running, it had a mismatch of plugs. I tried one of the old plugs and whatever cylinder I put it in, it works. The old plugs is an NGK DPR8EA-9 and the new ones I’m trying are JR9B. I’ve just put another set of the new ones in and the same happened again. It runs on all 4 for a couple minutes and they drop off one at a time until the bike no longer goes bang at all. Do you think that I would try a new set of the DPRs?whats the condition of the plugs after it stops running, are they wet/sooty or dry ? could be a fuel problem !!!

I'll state the obvious - a 140/80 X 18 won't work where once a 130/90 X 17 was fitted !
im hoping that was a misprint ???????

you can't beat an old bike with upgraded wheels and suspension, what tank are you using ?

Me too,it was my first mk1 b12 that bought me here years ago, first on the old site as daz b12 then the intermediate one and this now one. I love em , my bike ownership has been through the bigger better best scenario and now I'm coming back to the bikes that gave me the most fun and enjoyment
ive had a few bandits, i think they are great bikes and ive had so much fun on em and they are tough as old boots.

got to agree on the bandit frame, they are pretty stiff but let down by the suspension which can be upgraded.

I remember once at the streetfighter's do at Sheffield one of the stunt bikes was a B12, it was a red hot day and Garry Rothwell was doing a burn out till the tyre popped, the headers where glowing red
I asked him later about it and he said he does it all the time on that bike. tough as old boots

ive had 6 bandits and worked on countless others and the vast majority where a bit on the rattley side !!!! saying that ive heard others that where quiet.
-
you can always tell a bandit engine by its valve rattle

as I said earlier i would go with 600 bandit wheels as their not as wide as GSXR/1200 bandit and ive done it so i know they will be easier to fit. the bandit speedo drive will need skimming down a bit but saying that their are thinner drives on other makes of bike that could be used, but you would have to sort out one with the right ratio !!!!

how does the bike run ? has it still got an airbox ? an exhaust change or an end can doesn't really make much difference, ive just bought myself a colourtune to set mine up, works a treat.
