  1. Got 76mm MTC pistons in my gs1000. I use Teflon buttons rather than circlips. No problems. When racing we found the Mtc pistons were better than the rest. Could use a tighter tolerance on bore as they don’t expand as much as wiseco wossner or je.
  2. Mtc do a turbo flat top piston for the gs1100 4v 18mm pin but it’s 73mm. Can’t see many other pistons from different manufacturers giving you the comp ratio you would be looking for in a turbo application. Put some gsxr750 liners in and bore it to 73mm.
  3. Use 1984 gpz1100 pistons. They have 18mm pin and are 72.5 mm stock. You will need to use 2 base gaskets to get the deck height right. The compression ratio should be up a point from std gs as well. Do dry build to get it right and check valve to piston. Cut outs in pistons are bigger than gs so all good there.

    1980 Yamaha seca 750.
  5. Do the old skool long screwdriver to the ear. It’s a very good way to narrow down the area the noise is coming from.
  6. you can put top end from 1250 onto 1100w bottom end. Crank is different as 1250 has alternator on end of crank. Barrels are chrome bore instead of linered wet block 1100w. Cams interchange. Crank shells are the same as 1100 and busa. Just had a set of barrels replated to fit busa pistons for my turbo project. Throttle Bodys will fit 1100w but the secondary butterfly servo motor is in the middle of the tbs. spacing is same though. I'm using 2012 gsxr750 tbs spaced so I can use 2 stages of injectors.
  7. Thanks @homerI got the 1100 one and it seems to fit the 750 frame I got. Thanks for the reply
  8. Gen2 are 18 mm pin as said above but as to boring them to 20mm it would not be feasable as there is only about 10 thou of meat between the top of the pin hole and the oil control ring. So you would have to offset bore them and may then run into probs at the bottom of pin hole. I.e. getting thin and weak. If you need 20mm go with gen1 they will give same comp as gen2. The gen 2 forging is much skinnier than the gen1.
  9. Got a 1995 750w chassis and have the chance of a well tidy 95 1100w tank. Does anybody know of any differences?
  10. My motor is 1170 with cams and 11-1 comp and the stock starter works fine. Get a starter rebuild kit and replace all cables with thicker gauge wire. Make shure your engine ground is good too. All will help. @nlovien is good advice as well.
  11. Forgot another point is PM,s "race" wheels are thinner gauge ally than their road wheels so bend easier if you hit stuff with them Like potholes and small wildebeest.
  12. Just looked again and see the spokes are not solid soooo they could be lighter than they look. Back in the day PM used to call that range the chicane series. Lots around in the drag racing world. They did make them for kz,gs,gsxr.
  13. Think they are Performance Machine beadlock aftermarket wheels. They do a lot of made to order stuff. Mainly hardlymoovinsons. Think the hub is bolted to the wheel ctr. Certainly a thick HEAVY set of wheels there. They would bling up a treat! Add some neon lights, and chrome accents and yer in. Lol. Don't doooo it.
  14. As @Blubber says it can only be determined what year 1150 you have by engine number. As all 1150 engines are identical from the outside. 701 was 1984 then it gets iffy as 702 can be late 84-early 85 if you see what I mean. It dosnt matter if you want engine parts as all years interchange. Get a racefit legend they are ossum and only weigh 4lbs 1.81818182kg in euro speak
  15. Errm! Arrow would only point foreword one way. Don't know which side it's on.
  16. Mudguard mounting points were different as well.
  17. Never thought of that one. Go with the arrow. Wheels changed design from 2000 to 2001. Think it was a style thing as They measure the same though.
  18. They were also used on the 600 up to 2003. Had different adjusters on top nut and I think the ignition barrel was off to the side not in the middle on the top yoke. Used different calipers too I think.
  19. 83 and up 1100 had the big taper starter end but still had 18mm little end rod. 1150 has big taper 20mm little end rod and were welded from factory. Apart from that they are the same. 701 engine code 1150 had 8mm crankcase studs as the 1100 but 702 and 703 cases were changed to 9mm studs in the ctr of cases by oil filter. But that has noooooo relevance to the crank, just threw it out there for sngs.

    Sumps

Just checked them out on dabay us. 83 85 look short and thin. Saw one with pick up for around $25. Only one I got is for my short stroke 750 endurance project. Sorry.

Would a 750f teapot 1993 -95 fit? They seem to have the deep area right in the middle and front exit oil lines. Don't know much about them swapping to other engines though.
  22. @Fjbj40 it's a bit chilly down here today 72degrees with a wind chill of 71 off for a blast to bike night to see the limeys who are in town after man cup in Valdosta.
  23. Would be good to do some copys. Rare seat that is. Went for a ride with the seat tie wrapped to the frame. Feels good so think ill use it and mod it to fit.
