Rene EFE Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 But with startermotor and battery (duh)How long will it keep going? Quote
vizman Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 depends on your battery.....I did one lap of the tt in my v8dodge with no alternator Quote
vizman Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) and the dudette did 180miles down the a1 on her slabby 11 with no alternator... made it all the way home with a torch cello taped to the front. Edited August 27, 2015 by vizman 1 Quote
Rene EFE Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 Decent Li-battery probably. If it can run a session (20/25min) that would be allright. I think I'll chance it. Quote
McLean Racing Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 As Viz said. Depends how good ur battery is. I did 20 miles to get home once without the alternator plugged in........ Quote
Rene EFE Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 I guess you don't run starter or alternator on the dragbikes? How did you blank them off, if this is the case? Quote
McLean Racing Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I run a starter but that works from an external 24v battery/starter pack and doesnt suck power from the main battery. I dont use an alternator and have a APE blanking plate in place 1 Quote
markfoggy Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Running total loss in Endurance, smaller of the Li's that we've got is safe to an Hour with a start thrown in. We use the larger of the cells that we run for Lights, which consume way more than an ignition circuit. If you're racing or doing track days, remember that the charge time is always greater than the discharge time, by a factor of 2ish for safety. If you can get away with remembering to always plug it in first, when you get back off track, can't see that you'd ever have an issue. If you're starting the bike from cold, or don't need to start in a holding area, may as well just stick an auxilliary on there like a static battery or jump leads. Even more peace of mind. Quote
cregnybaa Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Just come back from the classic TT/Manx my bikes gsxr 1100s both total loss ytx12 battery good for six laps 226 + miles and still starts off starter. Quote

jonny1bump Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I managed to run 20 miles with my hid light on when my mini alternator snapped in half with tiny Lithium battery. Quote
