Spirit Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 The Suzuki 1150 motor stock has fairly small pipes leading to that waffle iron they call an oil cooler...when you fit an Earl's, the fittings and pipes are bigger ID. Is there a problem with oil pressure after fitting the Earl's (or other) cooler? I know it's not high pressure, but....? Quote
Arttu Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Short answer: No, bigger cooler and pipes shouldn't affect to oil pressure. If something they should increase pressure available to crank etc. due to smaller restriction but think the difference would be negligible. 1 Quote
wraith Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Will not be a problem putting a Earl's kit on as long as you don't go silly on the size of the cooler, I'd go for a 8 row full width (330mm) for a standard motor. Quote
Gpz1100_Convert Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 yep. no point going nuts on size and blocking air flow to the barrels which is likely more important in reality. Quote
gsxkat Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Same pump flowing oil around the same system so no real difference . The only difference is that you effectively have the oil cooler with bigger oilway than what the engine has. Once the oil re-enters the engine oil way systems the pressure and flow will be the same as without the cooler because the same pump will flow the same amount of oil so pressure isn't really affected within the motor. Someone might argue about losses in the system due to friction etc (basic fluid dynamics) but in reality the GSX engine is more about flow rates than pressure. Quote
