matticus Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Newbie here, sorry if this topic has already been discussed. Just bought 1984 GSX1100 with pod air filters and feels a bit asthmatic. Would I be better off returning to stock airbox, or fettle the jetting, maybe with a bit of dyno time (assuming this is the problem). Cheers. Quote
Jellyfinger Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 The pod filters would normally let the engine breathe much better, so dyno time is going to be your best investment. Out of interest, What exhaust does it have, Extra air/fuel going in has to get out again. Quote
gsx Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Up jetting is an option with pods , give grumpy 1260 a bell and see if an air corrector kit is available for your model . Alternatively try some 36 mm carbs from a gsxr , got some on mine and massive improvement, 34 mm tin tops off power screen or early gsxr 11 work well too . Have got a set of these set up for gsx 11 ,not for sale but can let you know mains and pilots if you go that route Quote

Blubber Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Seemed a bit harsh on a newbie. It recently has been brought under my attention there are people with gentle souls who cant take sarcasm. But..indeed a efi conversion will help 1 Quote

NorthernBloke Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 I suspect it will need up- jetting for the exhaust and for the filters since you have the pod filters already best to get the jets setup fro them if you can, are there any other symptoms when you say asthmatic? Quote
