Band1t1 Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I hope there is an expert on here to help. I have fitted a longstroke slabside motor into a slingshot chassis with a slingshot loom and ignitor. i have also swapper the twin slabside ignition pickup for a single slingshot pickup, is there any way to check whether to ignition timing is set correctly? the motor turns over fine, with a spark on all cylinders, however it doesn't fire or even give an indication of firing. Gixer1460 Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Did you change the rotor as well ? If there are sparks and fuel, it will run - maybe not well but it will run! Quote
Rene EFE Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 With the stock parts, you can't have the ignitiontiming wrong Quote
MeanBean49 Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Pretty much any oil cooled cdi will work on any oil cooled motor. Slingshot CDI's are the easiest to get working though. You can even use slabside pickup with them (just use one half of it) if you have a spark and are not even getting a bang it sounds like no fuel is getting through. If you get the odd pop and bang it could be 1+4 & 2+3 are wired wrong way round Quote
