vizman
welcome.....start ripping it apart, might not be as bad as you think Quote Link to comment
Swiss Toni
Welcome to OSS, Dan. Good little bike you've got there. Tough as old boots! Plenty s/h motors to be had on that site, but beware you're not buying a 'pig in a poke'! Why not whip the head off yours, and see how bad the seizure is? Barrels might not be too bad, and may just be restorable. Or, replace the top end? Keeps the numbers right! Anyway, good luck whichever way you choose to go! Quote Link to comment
Danpw
Thanks guys, I have the head off its not in a good way looks like its been sunk in a lake for years! what I'm looking to do is get hold of another engine then spend time rebuilding mine at a later date. I'm still not 100 percent on what model it is any help would be great! Quote Link to comment
Rene EFE
Put a GSXR750 motor in it, or ES750 if you want to keep it aircooled. 2 Quote Link to comment
Danpw
I did think that, but I would like to try and keep it standard. if I can't source a 400 engine I ill be going down that route Quote Link to comment

wraith
Welcome to OSS, if your on here it won't stay standard for long, it's a highly contagious disease modifying bike A good little bike the 400 twins had one years ago and was well in priest when I got 3 number on the speedo (not on the public road copper ) just keep a eye open for a motor they are about. Danpw
Thanks wraith, I'm beginning to see this trend! Struggling to find a standard motor, found plenty in Europe but none in U.K.! Quote Link to comment

beam
Diesel or automatic transmission fluid 2 Quote Link to comment
Swiss Toni
+1. Also put weight on crank, with spanner in direction of travel, and give a good clout to top of piston with either alloy or hardwood dolly! Get another pair of hands involved! Marvel Mystery Oil works wonders too! Quote Link to comment
Danpw
And its off! going to order some parts tomorrow. to start rebuild, any recommendations on suppliers? 1 Quote Link to comment
Swiss Toni
Robinsons Foundry (10% discount). Mention OSS discount. Robinsons in Rochdale (15% disc, thanks to YJ). Mention Yoshimura Johnny to spares lad. Lee I think? Quote Link to comment
