clivegto Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Fitted the crank case shells, checked clearance with plastigauge (just for the hell of it really as there new). Fitted big end shells to the super finished mk1 hayabusa con rods then onto the super finished b12 crank. Have just realised the new heavy duty cam chain I have is for a 1127 & not a b12. 9 Quote
Allspeeds Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Cases look nicely masked off Clive who coated them? Quote

clivegto Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Slow progress but got a bit more done. Fitted the APE cylinder studs, there's 3 different lengths . Did a dry top end build with cylinders, 2mm spacor plate & head to check there were enough threads sticking through the head 4 Quote
busa ash Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 thats coming along nicely clive, brian does lovley work 1 Quote
clivegto Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Heavy duty cam chain arrived, made by the same company in Japan that supply APE but this is £20 cheaper for not been in APE packaging. Fitted it to the crank dropped the gear box in as well as all the little bits & bobs, buttend it up & torqued it down. 3 Quote
clivegto Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Got some titanium cam cover bolts in the post today, only £22 delivered which I thought was cheap. 3 Quote
clivegto Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Took the sharp edges of the mk1 hayabusa pistons just to stop them melting if they felt the need to. Checked the ring gaps, cleaned the pistons up fitted rings then back on to the busa rods in original order. 2 Quote

clivegto Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Slid the barrels with the 2mm spacor plate fitted onto the pistons. I also got the oil return pipes powder coated in candy red. 1 Quote

clivegto Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Took some measurements to work the compression ratio out. According to my maths on the comp calculator it's 8.83:1 , bit higher than I expected it to be but close enough for boost So bolted the big valve flowed head on with the HD APE nuts. 7 Quote
clivegto Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 (edited) Fitted the super finished APE cam sprockets to the gsx1100f super finished cams, just set the slots in the middle for now while I bolt it together. Found a ignition plate & rotar in my stash of stuff. This engine started as crank cases with crank & gear box in it. I reckon there is at least 6 different engines in this one so far which ain't a problem, just means I have to go searching for all the small parts in me stash of stuff. clivegto Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Oil return tubes were not the only things I had powdered candy red. 3 Quote
