Gixer1460 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Lesson - don't send a plastic pipe to do a metal mans job! LOL 1 Quote
Danm54 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I thought it was carbon fibre but not sure looking at the pic again. Quote

JK1 Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 F**K!!!!!! I made a new pressure pipe from ss, but then the starter clutch stopped working... I opened it, it look pretty used... Is there anything I can do to fix it, or do I need a new one? I tried tightening the bolt but it didn´t help. J Quote
JK1 Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 (edited) Loads of troubleAfter finally getting a new starter clutch I haven´t had a change for a proper test ride.. I got the bike started but it ran like s**t!I thought the fuel map must be way off now because the MAP is now working correctly. I tried using the original fuel map the bike had when I bought it, and that was it! The bike started nice, the idle was smooth, the engine feli like it had more torque at lower rpm. Then it was time to try was there any change under boost... At low boost it felt ok, but getting around 0.7-1 bar the engine started to run badly, and suddenly 1 cylinder was gone. I rode back to the garage, and tried to look for the reason for the problem. #2 cylinder was runing a little cooler that the others so I checked the spark (ok) and the injector connector, and the other wire was a little loose. I fixed that and the bike started nice with all the cylinders.Again a new test ride. Now the I got boost smoothly over 1bar, but then again 1 of the cylinders stopped working. Back to the garage, #2cyl. spark plug is wet.. Spark was ok, the injector is not stuck open. I still have to check if theres enough compression... But things don´t look good Burnt valves maybe?J Edited September 29, 2015 by JK1 Quote
JK1 Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 No compression in cyl. #2... ---> winter update coming J Quote
JK1 Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 Earlier last night..A few hours later:There might be something wrong with #2.. J Quote
JK1 Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Oh sh*t I hope it's not rings Better..A few of the exhaust valve retainers were coming off.. #2 piston has taken a few light hits:Other pistons look ok.J Quote
Danm54 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Another sacrifice to the gods of boost! About time for a few trick bits over winter then? Quote
JK1 Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Another sacrifice to the gods of boost! About time for a few trick bits over winter then?I wish! But probably not.. I´ll just try to get it back together, clean the bike a lot etc. Quote
Fula28 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Jesus Jk ! Any Ideas why it bent a valve your lucky I'd say myn did same when it ate 8mm jubile fuel hose clamp. survived no issues string like bull these Gsxr motors.!!! Quote
Gixer1460 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 @Fula28 - i'd say a bit of valve bounce coupled with enthusiastic use of boost = partially spat collet locking a red hot valve part open which then got smacked by the piston! Could have been worse - if the collet came off entirely and valve slipped into the cylinder it'd be a whole lot messier! 2 Quote

teltwosheds Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Ouch! Time to get the magnifying glass out on the lot of them. Quote
JK1 Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 More:#3 piston:#2 piston:Next we´ll see how the bearings look like J Quote
JK1 Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Now the engine is split up. The crankshaft bearings look good, and so does the gearbox. I´ll still have to check the rod bearings. What else should I look for, and what gaskets to use while putting it back together?I need new pistons and the cyliders need honing.Any tips so I can make this engine as reliable as possible! Thanks!J Quote
JK1 Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 More carnage:#2 and 3 rods... No other visible damage...J Quote
Danm54 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Damn, thats a pretty good effort!Early busa rods are the popular upgrade I think. Someone will be along to confirm. Quote
