GSF1200S Clutch rebuild problems

Hi, so replaced my clutch plates etc today and everything seemed to be going well until I got too putting the clutch push piece back in and well, it doesn’t seem to push in far enough so that I can put the clutch release lifter in and the c clip. 
 

What am I doing wrong here anyone? Can’t find any information online regarding this. I have attached some images to show what I mean.

Have you given it a good push . sometimes the slave cylinder creeps out when the clutch is in bits.

Have you given the clutch lever an absent minded squeeze while the clutch was out? Any mates/kids about who like to touch stuff.

I personally haven’t, but it’s possible that one of the kids may have messed when I wasn’t looking.

I have yeah, it’s not budging In the slightest.

slacken the bleed nipple off and then push it, but put a pipe on it and face it upwards.

Spring in the slave will have pushed it out.

Take the sprocket cover off, see if it will then fit.

Yeah I ended up having to do this.

It did mate yeah thankfully, was blagging my head so much yesterday haha
