wraith Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Been meaning to ask this for about a year now The clutch in my gsx1100f motor is getting very difficult to get neutral when the bike is running. Put new steel and fibre OEM plates in a couple of years ago (because the old ones where fucked) and did notice at the time both the basket and hub had grooves in them where the plates sit. Ended up replacing the hub a year or so later (with a second hand one) which made it better but now it's getting to the point that you can't get neutral unless the engine is turned off or you put it in neutral before you stop rolling. I know I can file the grooves down to help the problem. The big question is, does anyone know of a clutch from a later bike that fits the gsx1100f? I know a gsxr600k3-4 hub will fit the b12 clutch (as done this on the gsx1157et) and will check if the hubs from the b12 and gsxf will swap later (as I've got the old gsxf hub and complete b12 clutch) But another info out there that you lot may know? Leblowski Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 There is a modification for this, if i am correct its even a Suzuki factory mod wich they adviced dealers back in the days. The problem is that to much oil stays in the basket the mod will help getting the oil out. I have done it with my first turbo bike. Wich worked pretty good i must say. I am pretty sure i posted a picture of the mod somewhere on this forum. 1 Quote

I don't get drag or slip, it's just next to impossible to get neutral when engine is running but bike at a standstill. I did get a bit of slip when I really gave it a good handful, till I changed the hub and dressed the grooves that where in it. Quote

Longhair Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I don't get slip at all, it's just oil drag on the plates. Mine has the cable conversion but that's nothing to do with the problem. 1 Quote
Duckndive Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) The mod just involved /s opening up the 4 holes in the back of the hub to help oil escape better they also removed the webs on slingshot and later diaphragm hubs you can achieve the same effect by adding holes to the basket changing the oil more often helps as well Edited January 2 by Duckndive 3 Quote

I thought we may have mentioned it before about your bike, but indeed the standard type MCs do really well when you change the brass bit that the push rod goes into. Did it one mine, it felt like the gearbox had been rebuilt i have since fitted a zzr radial item 1 Quote
