Allspeeds Posted November 24 Author Posted November 24 Just now, imago said: I do, as do the others I mentioned. Basically whoever you take/send it to on that list will do the same thing, run through the checks to see if it's usable as is, needs work/parts or is scrap. Can I send you it please Quote

Could you let me know stock sizes il measure the seats ( don’t have valves & cams yet he’s posting them on once found) Quote

Allspeeds Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 Be nice to have chassis sat on stands for Xmas then focus on building engine dropping cases off for vapour blasting Wednesday hopefully 1 Quote
Allspeeds Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 Ok fellow OSS does anyone have a picture of a mag 2 subframe as it would of come from Harris? I’ve realised the loop on the rear of my frame isn’t of Harris origin so I’m having it cut off and dressed up tomorrow and the battery box mounts are pissed so il have them re done, also bye removing that loop it doesn’t restrict me so much on seat choice at this point I can just make a bolt on alloy mount once decided 1 Quote
Allspeeds Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 Turns out the seat unit is a carbon yzr500 job but as nice as it is il be changing it I think 1 Quote
Allspeeds Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 I suppose many came as a blank canvas did they? Quote

From what I've learned there are 3 basic types of mag2 battery boxes. Fiberglass ones in the seat unit which used to crack so they made a steel one like my 2nd Magnum in the pic. There was also a verse with the battery under the seat which I also think was fiberglass. Ask John Schoon on FB he used to work for them and has all the frame designs and tube angles. Your welcome to borrow my 2nd frame if you want. Edited November 25 by clivegto 4 Quote

Could you measure the distance from back side of the subframe support to that bridge bracket before the battery box is just like to know how much my subframe has clearly been chopped already this was mine underneath it was a bracket on a bracket on a bracket!!! I think if mine is already short rather than piss about il just loose another inch and start fresh rather than removing and dressing up and just have two new battery box mounts fitted an inch further forward job done 1 Quote
Allspeeds Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 So this style clearly has battery in seat like you mentioned so rails just left straight cut no bridge etc Quote
Allspeeds Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 I really like this seat I remember it been in the Harris catalogs but I can’t find them anywhere Mike of even been NWS seat Quote
Dezza Posted November 26 Posted November 26 (edited) As Clive states, early Mag 2s had the battery in the seat. They then progressed to having a removable battery box with rails that slides over the ends of the frame rails and was clamped in place. Finally, from the mid to late 80s the battery box was integrated into the frame, as shown in Clive's pic. I think earlier Mag 1s, the frames of which are very similar, had a wider variety of seats and battery positions though. There are a few pics here of my mag 2, which has the later improved battery box and uses stock bodywork. Edited November 26 by Dezza 1 Quote

Allspeeds Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 Dropped frame at fabricators we measured it and looking at what Clive sent it’s never been cut till now so loosing and inch in length won’t hurt rather than struggling to dress old weld up with be clean cut he’s also removing twin battery box mounts that are pissed and replacing with just one as I think it’s enough so we tidy everything up there Quote
Allspeeds Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 2nd batch of polishing ready to go tomorrow just need a box Quote
Allspeeds Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 I was very surprised how primitive the swingarm spindle is on the Harris she was a little tight to get out but once I did get it out I noticed how heavy the pin was!! It’s ends are abit neat up (from previous not me may I add) so il have one re made but also the dust cap/shims for the swingarm were a mess I ordered some stock ET ones with seals built in they fit the JMC are perfect and will keep shit out there also same thickness so that’s good only issue is hole is smaller so il have engineers making pin drill them out 1 Quote
clivegto Posted November 26 Posted November 26 That's interesting what's the measurement of the arm tube? Quote
