Anders74 Posted November 10 Posted November 10 newer usd fork like 06-09 to gsx750 1981 How much work is it to make it work? = ) The crown axel needs to be modified? Or just change bearings and the bearing track? Thanks = ) Quote
Blubber Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Some of us re-use the original to thw frame steering stem / axle . In your case : the 1981 stem. You fit that to the donor In your case : the "new" USD triple plates. Some fit without an extra fill in piece, some dont. Others use a bearing swap via Allballs or the such. All depending on the stem length of the donor. Quote
Duckndive Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Most modern stuff fits with just a bearing swop as Blubber said Steering stops will need adding / modifying Just be aware most modern stuff is shorter than what you may be replacing and softer sprung If your planning to keep existing wheel then spacers bearing swop or custom spindle maybe needed and disc swop Lot easier if you use the wheel for the forks you intend to use only downside is most modern stuff don't have a mechanical speedo drive... If you look thru projects section you will find / see what others have done Quote
imago Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Along with all the above, keep in mind that you'll be fitting them to a bike that's @ 50kg or 8 Stone heavier than they came off. So spring rates and damping will be way way off, and that will affect braking as well as handling. Quote
Anders74 Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Thanks for info = ) I will use the gsxr1100 1988 wheels and breaks! Quote

Got a 2006 GSXR600 front fork in my GS1000 Quote
