Mike711 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I've got it apart trying to find out why it's 5mph slow and there's no damping in the needle. Other than a bit of dirt I can't see anything broken or not working, have any of you gentlemen had success servicing one of these? Thanks. Quote

PaintItBlack Posted July 7 Posted July 7 My gs1000 speedo was some way off too, and so was the gs1000 speedo that I replaced it with, wasn’t just 5mph though, would start at 5mph out, then increase by another 1mph out for every 10mph , at 20 reading 25, at 30 reading 36, 40- 47, etc my solution was to go for a ride with my sat nav fitted and put a sticker on the face of the speedo at the correct speed, think maybe they’re all like it, unless I’ve just ended up with two dodgy ones I got my mph number stickers off Eblag Quote
wraith Posted July 7 Posted July 7 The older Speedo's do tend to be out one because of the age and two, because back then something a bit out didn't matter so much. unlike these days with all the cops and there speed guns and speeding being a absolute offence Quote
Captain Chaos Posted July 7 Posted July 7 speedos always show a bit too high speed, never too low. In Europe it can show up to 5% + 5km/h too much. Not more. Quote
wraith Posted July 7 Posted July 7 It was one reason we got 10% on the speed when you got pulled up but these more and more UK forces going for 0% with the now more used electric Speedo's Quote
Mike711 Posted July 8 Author Posted July 8 I've done the sticker bit & tried a gps speedo but want it looking OE & roughly acurrate, I'm not sure if the amount of dirt I found between the magnetic drive wheel & the driven wheel would make it lose traction & hence read slow. I'll scrub it all clean & see what happens. Thanks for the replies. Quote
