Steve3446
Are the external dimensions different between 1052 motor and 1127 is there more clearance in 750 frame between the motorsĀ Quote Link to comment
DAZ
I've not had a 1052 but I'm reliably informed that the 1052 is marginally shorter than the 1127/1157 and also the rear engine mount is a 10mm(same as the 750s) not a 12mm as on the larger motors but it's easy to drill the mounting hth Quote Link to comment
DAZ
If you're building from a bare frame, the 88/89 j/I 750s had the least space and if you've to acquire an engine don't get hung up on a 1052 they're all at least 35 years old and there's loads more bandit 1200's about .... Steve3446
OK thanks I've got an L model and a J model frame I would prefer the 1127 motor wasn't sure if there was any difference in overall height, thanks 1 Quote Link to comment
Upshotknothole
The 1052 had an integrated breather that's slightly lower than the removable one on the 1127 and blandit 1200s. At the end of the day, you're not getting any 1100/1200 valve cover off when the engine is fully mounted in a 750 frame. You can remove the valve cover if you undo all engine mounts except the bottom rear and tilt the engines forwards in the frame and slide the valve cover back. Also requires removing the carbs. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dezza
What upshot says: the 1100 slabby has a unique slimline cam cover (magnesium) that has an integral breather. This makes the engine slightly shorter than other 1100/1200 engines . Quote Link to comment
clivegto
Though it was only the 750j/k frame that was physically smaller than the 1100 slingshot ones making the j/k the only true 7/11. Excluding slabbys ove course.Ā Quote Link to comment

Upshotknothole
Pretty sure my 750N frame is slightly smaller than my 1100M frame. Not positive, but it seems like the 750 doesn't have more space above the engine than the 1100 does. Quote Link to comment
george 1100
I've got a 1052 motor in a 750L frame and the valve cover is removable without a problem 1 Quote Link to comment

My 1127 in a 750K frame has barely any clearance. Quote Link to comment
george 1100
If you remove the breather, it should be doable Edited December 6, 2023 by george 1100 Quote Link to comment

The only way to get the valve cover off an 1127 in a J/K frame is to remove all the engine mounts except the bottom rear, pull the carbs, and slide the valve cover back, and even then it's a tight squeeze. The J/K 750 frames were the smallest of the slingshot frames, they got taller with the L/M frames. 2 Quote Link to comment
george 1100
That's painfulĀ 1 Quote Link to comment
