Are alternators interchangeable between the 11/12 engines, having trouble getting the gears to mesh for the alternator on my b12 engine

Different tooth count between the 1127s and 1200s. Gotta swap the gear, which is a pain, or any of the 1200s will fit, they're all interchangeable. Don't try and start it with that GSXR one in there, you'll lose teeth.

Even with the correct unit for the engine, refitting the alternator can be fiddly. I remove the clutch cover so I can see when the gears mesh. Tightening the bolts when the gears are not engaged correctly is easy and has disastrous consequences. A light smear of copperslip means next time you don't even have to buy a new cover gasket .

B12 alternator drive gear should have  26 teeth, it’s easy to swap gears between alternators just make sure it’s secured properly

Thanks, I'll have the clutch cover off to replace the gasket so will have a look through and count the teeth on the alternator

Can you actually see it without removing the basket?

 Can't quite see it, but both my alternators have 28 teeth, I had a 1100f engine in it but it was burning oil so shelved that motor for now and put a b12 in, anyone got an alternator or want to swap one of mine?
